Oshkosh M1070 truck transports another captured modern T-90 tank
WARSAW, POLAND — Every day we witness moments in Ukraine that until recently we thought we would never see. The short video of another captured Russian tank T-90 on the American platform Oshkosh M1070 tank transporter tractor unit looks like a surreal movie.

A T-90 tank is mounted on an Oshkosh M1070 cargo trailer. The Twitter account that shared the video did not say when or where the video was taken. It is quite possible that even the busy Oshkosh is not in Ukraine, but in some countries neighboring Ukraine. It makes sense, especially as you can see from the video that the T-90 tank is in good condition. This means that this unit can travel to a NATO base where engineers can begin researching its technology.
The process of researching foreign technology is mandatory in times of war. Through it, the technicians learn not only the weak points of the captured enemy platform but also, based on its technical characteristics, find a way to counteract in the future. It is for this reason that Western countries refuse to supply Ukraine with much more effective weapons.
Oshkosh M1070
Let’s talk about the Oshkosh M1070 because it is quite an impressive transport platform. Ukraine has a total of 14 such trucks. Two were purchased, and 12 were delivered since the start of the war. There is another Oshkosh M1070 platform promised to Ukraine by Germany.
The Oshkosh M1070 is one of the most used transport platforms by the US Army. It can be said that it is the main logistical military platform for the delivery of heavily armored combat vehicles.
The M1070 has been in production since the early 1990s to the present day. The main characteristics by which the efficiency of the flatbed is determined are as follows: unladen [tractor] 18598 kg / 20657 kg. Fifth wheel load [at GCW] 20411 kg / 20884 kg. GCWR 104961 kg / 108461.
The Oshkosh M1070 can be configured with one of two engines: Detroit Diesel Model 8V-92TA DDEC II, 12.06-liter diesel developing 500 hp at 2100 rpm and 1993 Nm torque at 1200 rpm or Caterpillar Inc C-18 18.01-liter turbocharged and intercooled 4-stroke diesel.
At an average speed between 48-50 km/h, the military transport platform can cover a distance of 724 km / 523 mi. The maximum speed that the M1070 can develop is 72 km/h.
