Russian S-350E can be integrated into Western air defense systems

MOSCOW, RUSSIA — The Russian S-350 Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system in an export version [S-350E] can be integrated into foreign air defense systems. This was announced on February 15 by a representative of the design bureau of the Almaz-Antey. The concern is participant of the international exhibition Aero India 2023.

He noted that Vityaz is a fairly flexible system. “If the client expresses his desire <…> [to integrate] into previously existing systems developed by Russia, then it is easier to do it <…> in foreign ones – this is also possible,” said he in a conversation with TASS.

Among the characteristics of the Vityaz air defense system, all aspects were noted. I.e. increased firepower, increased ammunition of anti-aircraft guided missiles, and increased survivability.

According to him, by uniting the air defense systems into one network, Russia will get a practically impenetrable “umbrella”.

About S-350E Vityaz

S-350 Vityaz is a self-propelled launcher with multifunctional radar. The ammunition is loaded from 12 to 16 rockets, depending on the modification.

The S-350E can intercept aerodynamic targets up to 120 km in range, and the interception of ballistic targets has a range of up to 25 km. The height of interception is also different, as for the first targets it is up to 25 km, and for ballistic targets up to 20 km. A missile fired from the S-350E Vityaz flies at 2,000 meters per second.

In the Rosoboronexport catalog, it is written that the system can simultaneously engage a maximum of 32 targets if they are aerodynamic guided missiles. If the goals are winged dynamic goals, Vityaz is committed to 24 goals. The S-350E can engage up to 16 conventional aerodynamic and ballistic targets.

In addition to cruise and ballistic missiles, Rosoboronexport claims that the S-350E can intercept helicopters and fighter jets, even those equipped with stealth technology. The system is suitable for the defense of administrative, industrial, and military objects from mass strikes of modern air attack means.
