Poland has delivered MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine but in parts

WARSAW, KYIV — In 2022, Poland delivered one part of its fleet of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. This is what Mr. Zbigniew Parafianowicz says in his article. The article was published on the Polish website Dziennik.pl.

According to Mr. Parafianowicz, the fighters were exported to Ukraine in parts. The fuselage and wings of the MiG-29 fighters were also exported “as spare parts”. In his article, Mr. Parafianowicz says that the Polish publication has this information from a source in the Polish government. “The planes were sent in a combined manner,” the Polish media source said.

The Polish government denies any such deals claimed by these media outlets. BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that the Spanish media Infodefensa claimed last year that Bulgaria exported its Su-25 in parts through third countries to Ukraine. The Bulgarian government later denied this, saying that the availability of Bulgarian Su-25s had not changed.

Let’s recall

Poland was the first country after the start of the war in Ukraine to offer to give Ukraine its MiG-29 fighters. This happened in March. Warsaw was ready to provide 28 units. In return, Washington expected to compensate the Polish Air Force with the delivery of F-16 fighter jets.

The US did not accept the idea. The US has officially stated that it has not received such a proposal from Poland. Another speculative claim later surfaced. China has played a role by stalling a similar deal between Poland and the US through negotiations in Washington. In Beijing, they believed that Moscow could accept the donation of MiG-29 fighters as crossing a “red line” and nuclear war was inevitable. The author of such a theory is Mr. Owen Matthews – an expert on Russia and the Russian-Ukrainian war.

A new meeting of the countries supporting Ukraine will be held next month. Some experts expect that the issue of the delivery of fighter jets to Ukraine will be discussed at this meeting. Several names are already being speculated – F-16, F-15, and A-10.

BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that just a few hours ago, the manufacturer Lockheed Martin announced that it is ready to double its production of the F-16. The Grenville plant is ready to supply F-16s to partner countries that decide to send F-16s to Ukraine. In this way, the air fleet of these countries will remain intact and their national security and balance in the region will not be threatened.
