Ukraine and Slovakia are negotiating for 11 new Zuzana 2 artillery

BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA — Ukraine wants to receive an additional 11 Zuzana 2 howitzers from Slovakia and an agreement is expected to be signed. This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Slovakia, Mr. Yaroslav Nagy, the European Justice reports, regarding Interfax-Ukraine agency.

“I can say that an agreement was signed for 8 self-propelled artillery installations, they are already in Ukraine. There is also an agreement between Slovakia, Germany, Denmark, and Norway to deliver 16 more Zuzana 2 self-propelled artillery units during the year, which will be paid for by these countries,” he said at an online briefing at Ukraine’s Odesa media center on Wednesday.

The minister emphasized that Slovakia is working on this and will continue the supply of self-propelled guns this year.

“Recently I received information that there is a request from the Ukrainian side for 11 more of these howitzers, we are waiting for the signing of the agreement. We work closely with representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, they visited us last week. I hope we will be able to reach an agreement,” Nagy noted

He also said that Slovakia was not currently discussing the issue of providing Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks, but could transfer Soviet T-72s if the allies offered a replacement.

Mr. Nagy also confirmed that Slovakia is ready to discuss the transfer of its MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine.
