Sending 10 Abrams tanks to Ukraine under discussion – Sky News
WASHINGTON, US — The White House is inclined to transfer Abrams M1 tanks to Ukraine. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal, citing sources among American officials. It involves a “significant amount” of equipment, and a decision could be announced as early as this week.

At the same time, Sky News Arabia, citing representatives of the Pentagon, reports that it is about the transfer of 10 Abrams tanks.
In addition, according to the WSJ, such a decision is part of a diplomatic agreement with Germany. It says the German government will send a “smaller number” of Leopard 2 tanks. At the same time it will approve the transfer of a “larger number” of German tanks from Poland and her allies. The conversation was held on January 17 between Mr. Joe Biden and Mr. Olaf Scholz.
A German official interviewed by reporters said the issue had been the subject of intense negotiations between Washington and Berlin for more than a week and appeared to be close to being resolved.
At the same time, the Pentagon previously ruled out the possibility of providing Abrams tanks to Ukraine, as they are too difficult to maintain and operate.
At the same time, White House and State Department officials were still leaning toward a positive decision on the transfer of equipment. This is due to the difficulties of negotiations regarding the supply of Leopard tanks.
The official White House did not comment to journalists on the information about the transfer of Abrams.
We recall that Poland sent a request to Germany regarding the delivery of Leopard tanks to Ukraine.
