Russian army received 98 T-72A main battle tanks in October
PANAGYURISHTE ($1=1.88 Bulgarian Levs) — Russia received approximately 100 T-72 tanks within a month. According to the online publication Oryx, 98 tanks in various modifications, such as T-70A and T-72АВ, were sent to the front in Ukraine. A part of them came from the reserves of Belarus, the publication said, citing a statement from the Twitter account Belarusian Hajun project.

Belarusian T-72 tanks were taken out of the storage base of the 969th tank reserve base in Urechcha, which is located in the region of the Belarusian capital Minsk. Local residents managed to record a video of a train loaded with the 24 Belarusian tanks. According to sources, the tanks were transported in two stages – first from Urechcha to the Uspenskaya station, which is located in the Rostov region, and then they were sent to Donetsk.
Belarus is said to be quite active in supplying military equipment to Russia. According to sources, in just a few weeks, the administration of the Belarusian President Mr. Alexander Lukashenko has delivered 94 T-72A tanks. The same source claims that this is the 6th shipment from Belarus to Russia in recent weeks.
However, BulgarianMilitary.com knows that in October, Russia received more than just T-72 tanks. We reported that a train set at the end of October with loaded T-90 tanks left for Donetsk. The train loaded with tanks was spotted at the railway station in Samara, European Russia. Thus, in addition to the 98 T-72 tanks already mentioned by Oryx, Russia received in the same month T-90 tanks, which certainly makes 100 units in one month.
The T-72 is a Soviet-era Russian main battle tank. It was developed at the end of the 70s of the last century and entered into operation in 1973. The tank weighs nearly 45 tons and is operated by a crew of three. The armor of the tank is composed of Steel and composite armor with ERA. The main gun of the tank is a 125 mm 2A46M/2A46M-5 smoothbore gun, and additionally, there are two weapons on the turret – 7.62 mm PKT coax. machine gun and 12.7 mm NSVT or DShK anti-aircraft machine gun. Both machine guns are designed for close combat defense.
The tank is powered by a B-shaped diesel engine producing up to 1,130 horsepower. Nearly 25,000 units of this tank model were produced, and it has taken part in almost every military action from the 1970s to the present day.
Specifically, the T-72A modifications sent from Belarus to Russia are tanks where the coincidence rangefinder was replaced with a laser rangefinder and electronic fire control added, turret front and the top being heavily reinforced with composite armor [nicknamed Dolly Parton by US intelligence], provisions for mounting reactive armor, smoke grenade launchers, flipper armor mount on front mudguards, internal changes.
