Air force of drones: Ukraine has bought 1,000 UAVs in 90 days

KYIV ($1=36.95 Ukrainian Hryvnias) — Within three months [90 days], Ukraine purchased nearly 1,000 drones – 986. $52 million were spent on these purchases. In this way, Kyiv has created a new Air Force made up of only drones and nearly 1,000 operators. The information was officially announced on October 4 by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov.

“Army of drones – three months! During this time, contracts for 1.9 billion hryvnias [almost 52 million dollars – ed.] were signed – that’s 986 drones for the armed forces of Ukraine. Some of them are already at the front, the rest stored will also work soon,” he wrote on the Telegram channel.

Fedorov also provides information on the models of purchased drones. Warmate 3.0 are Polish drones designed to inflict serious destructive damage on light armored vehicles and air defense systems. Penguin drones are unmanned aerial vehicles operating with crypto data. Hundreds of DJI Matrice RTK 300, DJI Mavic 3, Autel Evo 2, Ukrainian UkrJet, Skyeton, and SKIF drones are also included in the total of nearly 1,000 drones.

Last but not least, the Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister announced that he is continuing the training of Ukrainian drone operators. To date, more than 1,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been trained. their training takes place both in Ukraine and in neighboring allied countries.

BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that at the beginning of August this year, the Turkish company Baykar purchased a plot of land in Ukraine. Turkey and Ukraine will jointly produce Bayraktar drones. This plant will also carry out repair and maintenance activities related to the functioning of the drones. This information was officially confirmed by the Ukrainian ambassador to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar.

The start of production of Turkish drones in Ukraine is also expected. Although there is a long process ahead before the official launch of the production lines, the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak discussed the joint production with the Baykar company while on a visit to Turkey earlier.
