According to the minister, the terminals will be used for the needs of critical infrastructure sites and to improve the communication efficiency of Ukrainians. “Our Polish friends handed over 5,000 Starlinks to Ukraine. This will help Ukrainians to always be connected and critical infrastructure sites to work in the most difficult conditions. I am very grateful to the State Secretary for Digitalization of Poland, Janusz Czeszczynski, for such an important step,” Fedorov wrote.
Starlink is a project of the American company SpaceX to develop a satellite platform for the production of communication satellites and launch a large number of them into space.
The system provides access to broadband Internet anywhere on the planet. The system is connected to small terminals that have phased antenna arrays and track satellites. The terminals can be installed anywhere the satellites can see directly.
At the beginning of February 2022, the company SpaceX offered satellite Internet with increased speed. Earlier it became known that the Pentagon is studying Starlink’s experience in countering Russian electronic warfare.
The Russians tried to jam the Starlink terminals with electronic warfare, but SpaceX updated the software and the equipment worked without interference.
