British Coyote TSV will receive US-made 105mm M119 Hawkeye artillery
LONDON, ($1=0.81 British Pounds) — The UK Ministry of Defense is considering equipping its Coyote Tactical Support Vehicles [TSV] with artillery cannons to further increase its firepower. Sources say the new artillery gun for the Coyote TSV will most likely be the US 105mm M119 Hawkeye howitzer.

- US-made next-gen turret drive servo system into British Challenger 3
- British M270 MLRS to get a new engine, cab and fire control system
In its current version, the Coyote TSV is equipped with light machine guns and anti-tank guns. However, the increase in firepower is a consequence of the British experience in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, as well as recent events in Europe – the war between Russia and Ukraine. Coyote TSV fights in Ukraine using integrated anti-tank weapons.
A source from the British Ministry of Defense notes that British soldiers have noticed the need for powerful artillery mounted on the Coyote TSV on the battlefields in Syria. Experts say that London had its inventory 105mm artillery gun – L118 light gun, but it is not suitable for Coyote TSV, as it has a serious range and despite the name “light gun” has a lot of weight.
105mm M119 Hawkeye howitzer
The most appropriate option, say English analysts, is to use the American 105mm M119 Hawkeye towed howitzer. The M119 Hawkeye is a modular howitzer and can therefore be integrated into a variety of vehicles. The M119 Hawkeye also uses a wide range of munitions, such as the M1 high-explosive projectiles, the M913 high-explosive missiles, and the M314 luminous star projectiles, which are in service in the United Kingdom. Last but not least, the M119 Hawkeye has an increased range of nearly 14 km and can fire six artillery shells in a minute.
Tests are forthcoming, says a senior official from the British Ministry of Defense. They will answer how quickly the British Army can increase the firepower of the Coyote TSV, as well as how long it will take for the new combat configuration to enter service. It will be limited, but it is assumed that within two years [until 2024] Britain will have a battle group of Coyote TSV and 105mm artillery cannon.
Coyote TSV is based on the British Jackal TSV or Mobility Weapon-Mounted Installation Kit [MWMIK] as it is known in some circles. One of the main differences between the two vehicles is that the Jackal TSV is on a 4×4 chassis, while the Coyote TSV is a 6×6 based on Supacat’s HMT 600 6 × 6.
In addition to anti-tank guns, Coyote TSV can be integrated with a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, or Heckler & Koch GMG, as well as a 7.62 mm general-purpose machine gun. Coyote TSV can carry a payload of up to 3.8 tons.
