Brazil tested light armored VBMT-LR with weapon system REMAX 4
BRASILIA, ($1=5.00 Brazilian Reals) — From the 5th to the 13th of April, soldiers from the Brazilian army together with experts from the companies Ares and Iveco conducted tests of the light multitasking armored vehicle 4×4 VBMT-LR with integrated weapon system REMAX 4.

The Brazilian Ministry of Defense reports that the technicians and engineers present have conducted integration tests to ensure the continuity of the Brazilian REMAX 4 project and to see the optimized mechanical and electrical interfaces in the weapon system.
Not a small part of the time allotted for tests was spent on different off-road roads to assess the condition and behavior of the REMAX 4 stabilization system and to evaluate its effectiveness in different geographical terrains. During these tests, Brazilian soldiers tested a 7.62mm light machine gun for its effectiveness while moving. Visibility on the target and its tracking were also assessed.
The Brazilian Ministry of Defense wrote in a press release that the latest version of the REMAX 4 weapon system tested was lighter and had more ammunition storage capacity than its predecessor.
About REMAX 4 weapon system
REMAX 4 is a Brazilian remote weapon system produced by CTEx [Brazilian Army engineers] and Ares Aeroespacial e Defesa S.A. The interface of the weapon system allows the integration of one of the two machine guns: 7.62mmx51 NATO standard or 12.7mm.
REMAX 4 integrates on the tower of the armored vehicle. There is a stabilizer that ensures the accuracy of the shots while driving on various terrains, including off-road.
The weapon system has integrated various optical devices for surveillance, tracking, and reconnaissance, such as night, thermal or day cameras: all with digital magnifiers. The weapon system allows for a complete view of the environment by 360-degree rotation of the tower.
Developed in Brazil armored personnel carrier Guarani will be equipped with REMAX 4. It is known that the weapon system has already successfully passed four stages of testing: firing a 7.62mm machine gun, firing a 12.7mm machine gun, night shooting using night and thermal cameras, and shooting from a moving car: the one the Ministry of Defense has already announced.
