As BulgarianMilitary.com reported yesterday, January 11, a video recently appeared on YouTube showing the combat capabilities of a new Chinese wheeled mortar. The self-propelled unit can launch new adjusted high-precision mines with Chinese design and production.
The new Chinese 120-mm mortar, manufactured by Chengdu Lingchuan Special Industry, is mounted on a Dongfeng Mengshi CSK131 with a 6 × 6 wheel formula. The machine is reportedly equipped with an inertial navigation system and a battlefield control system. The process of aiming by calculating the coordinates of the target, which will be hit by mortar fire, according to the developers, takes 30 seconds.
Judging by the videos and images of ammunition fired by the mortar installation, these are newly corrected Chinese mortar mines that use a gas-dynamic adjustment to adjust their flight, rather than the more “traditional” principle of aerodynamic control.
Army Recognition wrote in its article that the Chinese mortar acquired by Algeria may have a computerized aiming and navigation system, which could be a sign of the autonomy of the weapons system.
The publication also suggests that the Algerian mortar may be equipped with a recoil reduction system, which will reduce the load on the entire weapon system during operation. The advantage of this type of mortar is its mobility and easy integration, which allows them to be mounted on almost any vehicle.
The NIMR Hafeet chassis is an armored patrol vehicle that can carry up to four people in its cab. According to the characteristics of the vehicle, it has various protections against ballistic threats, as well as a loading platform that can allow the chassis to be equipped with additional weapon systems.
