Ukraine acquired next-gen Link 16, Link 22 combat control system
KYIV, ($1=27.52 Ukrainian Hryvnia) – Turkey’s Havelsan said that in 2021 it exported its combat control system Advent to Ukraine, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, citing Defense Express.
- Ukraine will train how to shoot down Russian cruise missiles
- Ukraine hopes to produce fighter jets jointly with Boeing
- High-speed Mark VIs for Ukraine with M2 Browning have been ordered
This system is also available in Indonesia. This was announced by the Turkish specialized resource TurDef, citing messages in the official Havelsan accounts on social networks.
In particular, the head of one of Havelsan’s divisions reports on the delivery of the Advent combat control system in a video entitled “Congratulations on 2022 with success and applause!”, Which the company has prepared for the New Year holidays and tells about these successes “as indicated in the eye line to the video.”
Advent is an advanced combat control system used by the Turkish Navy. It is more efficient, open to technological improvements, scalable, secure, and supports network data transmission. In particular, this system is used on TCG Kinaliada – the 4th ship in a series of corvettes of class Ada. Advent will also be used as a combat control system of TCG Burgazada – the 3rd ship of the Ada class corvettes, the Turkish universal landing ship TCG Anadolu, special purpose ships TCG Ufuk, Burak class corvettes, and frigates Barbaros and Istanbul.
The combat control system will likely be installed on Hell-class corvettes, which will be built jointly by Turkey and Ukraine for the Ukrainian Navy.
It is known that the Advent combat control system is also exported to Pakistan. So far, four different users have preferred Advent. It is known that Havelsan is also continuing its efforts to promote Advent for export to other countries.
According to the Havelsan website, Advent is a new generation combat control system that better meets the needs of an operational approach to the use of forces and resources in the complex than a single ship. In particular, the system allows access to the functions of the tactical data channels [Link 11, Link 16 and Link 22, SIMPLE, JREAP, and VMF], fully integrated with Advent through all consoles of the operator.
Thanks to decision support systems, Advent has an architecture that facilitates the fast and correct decision-making process of its users and provides a flexible structure when using new weapons and sensors. The system is designed as a modular structure suitable for multitasking profiles and other types of platforms. Advent is an independent platform system. Thanks to the scalable structure of the open architecture, Advent can be adapted to ground, underwater, and air platforms and ground facilities.
We recall that since the beginning of the Russian aggression in Ukraine in 2014, official Ankara has been very stable and unchanging in its position to preserve the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. Turkey condemned the so-called “referendum” in Crimea in March 2014 and co-authored resolutions of the UN General Assembly “Territorial Integrity of Ukraine” and the “Human Rights Situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol” [2014-2019], as well as the militarization of Crimea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov by Russia [2018-2019].
BulgarianMilitary.com previously announced a plan to build Turkish corvettes Ada for Ukraine, as well as details about the equipment of Turkish corvettes Ada for the Ukrainian Navy, the first of which should be built by 2023.
