According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the African country is in the top 40 military importers in the world, with the United States being a major supplier of weapons systems and technology. France, Turkey, and Israel are also exporters of weapons systems to Morocco.

Morocco is expecting the F-16 Block 72 fighters it ordered in 2019. In this regard, the state is preparing to modernize two airbases in the country to take over the management of Moroccan F-16 squadrons.
