Italians designed a stealth patrol boat with a speed of 70 knots
ROME, ($1=0.89 Euros) – The company Luciano Facchini Design is designing a new 18-meter high-performance and high-speed model “Interceptor” reaching a speed of 70 knots [70 knots = 130 km/h – ed.] for the Greek shipyard Supertermoli Powerboats, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, citing AnalisiDifesa.

The design of the ST60 SWCC [Special Warfare Combatant Craft] aims to combine a boat with excellent aerodynamics combined with a strong stealth line, in which electronic and protective equipment are also designed in perspective. The Italian shipyard says that the positioning of the boat and the control of the fire can be done remotely.
The design study focused on crew safety during a direct firefight and the adoption of interchangeable modules that make the ST60 SWCC a boat suitable for use with a variety of weapons and equipment, including transporting raid teams.
The first concept was presented this year first at ENAD [Egypt’s Navy Armaments Division] and then at the DEFEA exhibition in Athens. Italian designers claim that various naval forces are already showing serious interest in the project. In early 2022, the high-speed boat is expected to pass the first technical tests on land, as well as sea tests, testing all components and modules of the boat – from endurance and speed to normal speed shooting and high-speed shooting.
At the same time, the manufacturer announced the development of an unmanned interceptor of 15 and 18 meters armed with the latest generation of weapon systems and technologies.
China unveiled high-speed unmanned vessels
As we reported on November 29, the Chinese state information site Global Times has revealed that the Chinese manufacturer of drones Yunzhou Tech has achieved a technological breakthrough in terms of intercepting, besieging, and repelling enemy ships [dynamic technology – ed.].
According to the author of the publication, China currently has six such drones guarding the Chinese coast. Their main activity is to work together in a complex environment and to gather evidence of violators of China’s territorial waters. The Global Times claims that drones are fully autonomous and can make their own decisions about their actions, which suggests the existence of a system with artificial intelligence.
However, Chinese engineers from Yunzhou Tech claim that drones have their drawbacks. They note the fact that it is still time-consuming to stabilize such a platform, as well as to exercise full control over the route. Some Chinese engineers even claim that drones have accuracy problems, without specifying what exactly they mean by that statement.
The company says it will launch its largest drone next year, which will have to organize and monitor the operation of air, underwater, and surface unmanned systems simultaneously.
