On November 25 this year, the Italian defense company Iveco Defense Vehicles announced that it had handed over to the Brazilian Armed Forces the 500th Guarani VBTP-MR 6 × 6 armored personnel carrier, which was manufactured at a plant in the Brazilian city of Sete Lagoas. This plant in Brazil became the first Iveco facility to start outside Italy.

The company reminds that the project for joint production of armored personnel carriers with Brazil started in 2013, and in 2014 the Brazilian army received the first 68 armored personnel carriers Guarani VBTP-MR 6 × 6. In addition to the Brazilian Armed Forces, several dozen Guarani armored personnel carriers were also sold to buyers for export.

In addition to the six-axle armored personnel carriers VBTP-MR, Brazil and the Italian Iveco Defense Vehicles want to jointly produce LMV-BR armored vehicles: the main units are manufactured in Italy, and large units are already assembled at Brazilian sites.

According to the 2015 contract, the Brazilian Armed Forces must receive 186 LMV-BR armored vehicles, and 32 such armored vehicles have already been delivered.

In total, Brazil and the Italian Iveco Defense Vehicles plan to jointly produce 1,500 armored personnel carriers of the two types, a six-axle VBTP-MR and an eight-axle LMV-BR, within 20 years of cooperation, starting in 2014.
