Call of Duty: Vanguard with the worst start in a 14-year franchise

WASHINGTON – VGC has learned from its own sources that Call of Duty: Vanguard’s initial UK retail sales were the worst in 14 years. Only the original Modern Warfare, which was the first game in the series in a modern setting, showed a lesser result.

Gamesindustry.biz reports that the Black Ops series bypasses the game on all fronts. So, last year’s Black Ops Cold War in terms of initial sales surpassed Vanguard by 40%, and the most successful part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops series by 200% in general. However, the launch of Vanguard is still one of the largest this year – only FIFA 22 performed better than the new Call of Duty.

Journalists believe that the poor start could be influenced by other emerging shooters, as well as the fact that games about the Second World War have always sold worse than modern releases. Also, some of the sales could be lost due to the shareware Warzone.
