The American company Hermeus has introduced the first full-size prototype of its hypersonic aircraft Quarterhorse. The “highlight” of the presentation ceremony of this aircraft was that the manufacturer during the event started the hypersonic Quarterhorse engine and installed its full afterburner.
Even though the plane remained on the ground throughout the presentation, the developer hopes that the first flight will take place next year.
So, in August this year, Hermeus announced that it had received about $ 60 million in funding from US aircraft and venture companies to support the Quarterhorse flight test program, which is due to begin in 18 months.
It is known that US aircraft have invested in this company allegedly as part of efforts to explore potential future concepts of hypersonic and supersonic transport aircraft.
However, it is unknown at this time whether the model presented at the presentation will be a flying prototype, as it does not yet have, in particular, the steering wheel and chassis.
