Iran has shot down an Israeli reconnaissance tactical drone

TEHRAN, ($1=42,190.00 Iranian Rials) – The Iranian news agency reported that the Iranian Air Force had shot down an Israeli drone fired from Azerbaijan. This was learned by BulgarianMilitary.com, referring to the Azariha agency. This is the first official Iranian message confirming that their country has shot down an Israeli drone [watch the video]. However, there is no information on when and where this happened.

Experts suggest it may have been an attack on a nuclear facility near Tehran last week. Tehran then accused Baku of carrying out the attack and accused its neighbor of taking Israel’s side in a conflict that was not theirs.

“The Israeli military has repeatedly sent unmanned aerial vehicles to Iran from its base in Azerbaijan, and we once shot down a Hermes unmanned aerial vehicle in Iran,” Azariha said in an interview with international relations expert Mustafa Hoshashm.

Mustafa Hoshashm most likely has in mind the Israeli intelligence, tactical and multi-payload, medium-altitude long-endurance Hermes 900.

BulgarianMilitary.com reminds you that relations between Iran and Azerbaijan have deteriorated sharply in recent days. After Tehran blamed Baku, Iran sent hundreds of armored trucks, self-propelled howitzers, and tanks to the Azerbaijani-Iranian border. Tehran has already threatened Baku that “thousands of strikes” on Azerbaijan will follow.

Azerbaijan has the support of Turkey

With the support of Turkey, Azerbaijan will be able to “correct the picture of the world” for Iran’s military-political leadership using diplomatic influence, and “brandishing of Iranian weapons” will stop.

It seems, Ankara is ready to provide Baku with all the necessary “informational” support.

Or the “picture of the world” for Iran’s military-political leadership will worsen even more, and Tehran will start a “big war” against Azerbaijan. Moreover, formally Iran has an advantage in the number of armed forces – up to 600 thousand servicemen, while Azerbaijan – about 200 thousand servicemen.

However, Azerbaijan and Turkey have conducted many joint maneuvers aimed at strengthening synergies between the armies of the two countries. The most recent example is the Sokol TurAz-2021 exercise in September 2021, in which Turkish F-16s and Azerbaijani Su-25s and MiG-29s learned to jointly destroy enemy aircraft and air defenses and hit targets in the enemy’s rear.
