Ukraine trains how to shoot down Russian cruise missiles

As we reported on September 15 the Armed Forces of Ukraine organized a joint echelon of air defense, which consisted of calculations of army air defense and anti-aircraft missiles and which covered both strategic facilities and combat formations of our troops.

Units of the anti-aircraft missile forces of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine conducted tactical exercises with combat fire, as part of the strategic Joint Efforts 21 command and staff exercises.

Such large-scale exercises for our anti-aircraft gunners are “traditional”, it is a way to check the level of training acquired during the current year.

One of the innovations of these exercises was the engagement of army air defense units to organize a multi-level air defense system that will protect from the air at the same time important government facilities, cities, positions, and the concentration of our army.

In addition, the Ukrainian air defense forces trained to shoot down not only enemy aircraft but also cruise missiles. And to complicate the situation – there was maximum saturation of the airspace with “their” and “enemy” aircraft of different types.

This format of training placed an additional burden on radar operators, forced to accompany a large number of air targets simultaneously, immediately detect enemy targets and give clear targets to missiles to destroy them.
