Dozens of children killed, Taliban ethnic cleansing in Panjshir

KABUL, ($1=84.70 Afghan Afghanis) – Ali Nazari, a spokesman for the Afghan National Resistance Front, said the Taliban was carrying out ethnic cleansing in Panjshir province and called on the international community to intervene, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

“The Taliban have expelled thousands of people from Panjshir. They are carrying out ethnic cleansing and the world is still watching and ignoring this situation,” Nazari wrote on Twitter. “We call on the international community to end these war crimes,” he added.

Earlier, an Afghan journalist who was the province’s deputy governor, Kabir Wasik, reported on the mass executions and clean-up operations in Panjshir.

“The Taliban are shooting civilians for no reason, including children, which is a war crime and a crime against humanity. They are searching the homes of influential residents, village leaders, mules, and lawyers, exerting strong psychological pressure on the population, and there are constant threats of murder and arrest.”, Wasik said.

On Monday, Taliban officials announced they were taking control of the entire country following the capture of the Panjshir Valley, home of the National Resistance Front, which opposes the Taliban. Representatives of the resistance front say they are still in the valley.

The commander of the National Resistance Front is Ahmad Masood, the son of Ahmad Shah Masood.

Panjshir Province, located 70 km north of Kabul, is of strategic importance as it passes through the passages connecting southern and northern Afghanistan. The peculiarities of the terrain of the province and the gorge of the same name, located in it, are suitable for guerrilla warfare.

The situation in Afghanistan

After a 20-year presence on August 31, US troops left Afghanistan. According to US President Joe Biden, the United States has done what it set out to do: eliminate the al Qaeda terrorist group responsible for the 9/11 attacks and prevent Afghanistan from becoming a center of terrorism.

His words do not correspond to reality. According to a US intelligence report, at least 20 small terrorist groups are currently operating in Afghanistan, radicalized over the past 20 years due to the foreign presence. Various reports suggest al-Qaeda terrorists are joining the Taliban and Islamic State will establish a presence in Afghanistan.

Earlier, the same US report said that Kabul would collapse within six months, but the US president withheld this information. He tried hard to convince the public that there was no such option in front of Afghanistan and cited the thousands of troops and equipment of the Asian country. Despite Joe Biden’s “optimism,” the Taliban took over almost the entire country within a month and entered Kabul. Former President Ashraf Ghani fled the country.

At present, there is only one territory left in Afghanistan that has not been conquered by the Taliban, and that is the province of Panjshir. Anti-Taliban forces and Afghan soldiers have positioned themselves in it. The anti-Taliban coalition is led by Ahmad Massoud.
