As part of the XXIX Defense and Industry Exhibition MSPO-2021, which will take place from 7 to 10 September 2021 in the Polish city of Kielce, the local company Huta Stalowa Wola SA presents a prototype of its armored vehicle class MRAP with a 4×4 wheel formula.

According to the local resource MilMag, the multi-purpose tactical vehicle is designed for the needs of the Polish Armed Forces and will have a large number of different options. In particular, it will take part in the competition for a promising armored vehicle for the Polish special operations forces under the Pegaz program, and will also be offered for artillery units as control and reconnaissance vehicle (can also be used as RHBZ, patrol, strike, commander, etc.).

The new MRAP was developed by HSW together with the Czech company Tatra Export [a subsidiary of Tatra Trucks] and is built on the Tatra 815-7 [4×4] chassis, where the Polish company is responsible for the armored body. In general, as you can understand, the car is similar in design to the previously demonstrated Excalibur Army armored vehicle T815 Patriot MATMMV.

The new car is expected to be manufactured by HSW in Poland and assembled at the former Autosan bus plant in Sanok.

Presented at MSPO-2021 prototype in the basic configuration has a total combat weight of 13 tons with the possibility of increasing it to 18 tons by strengthening the protection. Capacity eight people, including two crew members. The four-door armored body provides the declared level of ballistic protection STANAG 4569 Level 2-4 and the level of mine protection STANAG 4569 Level 2a / 2b – 3a / 3b.

Depending on the need, the Polish-Czech design can be equipped with a Tatra diesel engine [300 kW] or Cummins [270 kW] and uses an Allison 4500SP six-speed automatic transmission. The maximum speed on the highway is 110 km / h, the range is up to 700 km. The car has an adjustable ground clearance from 260 to 430 mm.

The new MRAP can be equipped with various types of weapons and modern combat modules. Thus, the model presented at MSPO-2021 is equipped with a remote-controlled machine gun combat module ZSMU A5 developed by the Polish company Zakłady Mechaniczne Tarnow.
