Russia is training a Taliban invasion, sending 800 troops to the border

MOSCOW, ($1= Russian Rubles) – About 300 Russian troops and more than 60 pieces of equipment have been transferred to Kyrgyzstan for CSTO Rubezh-2021 maneuvers, the Central Military District [CMD] said on Monday, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

“Up to 300 servicemen and more than 60 pieces of equipment will be attracted by the Russian contingent,” the statement said. The maneuvers in Kyrgyzstan will take place against the backdrop of the escalating situation in Afghanistan, where the Taliban movement has come to power.

Russia has sent troops from a mountain motorized rifle brigade from Tuva to Kyrgyzstan for training, the military said. “Military contingents from the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan will take part in the exercise,” the Central Military District’s press service said.

“During the exercise, Russian servicemen will develop the preparation and conduct of a joint military operation to block and destroy conditional illegal armed groups that have invaded the territory of a member state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization,” the Central Military District said.

The commander of the Central Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Lapin, announced earlier that during the summer training period, nine joint international exercises will be held in Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. The main event in the joint training of the troops will be the anti-terrorist exercises of the Peace Mission 2021.

Earlier on Monday, the Central Military District reported on the maneuvers of the Russian military with live fire on a range in the mountains of Tajikistan. They are attended by about 500 servicemen from motorized rifle units at the Russian military base in Tajikistan.

“Commanders of all levels perform tasks of organizing a combined weapons battle with the practical implementation of live firing of weapons of armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, automatic and hand grenade launchers AGS-17, RPG-7B, as well as small arms at a distance of up to 1.5 thousands of meters,” the district said in a statement. To create a situation close to combat, more than 100 different static and dynamic targets are used on the range.

In addition, according to the Central Military District, the Russian military in Tajikistan conducted exercises with the S-300 air defense system, firing electronic missiles at five air targets of the imaginary enemy. The S-300PS division is responsible for the air defense of the Russian military base in Tajikistan.

The Collective Security Treaty Organization [CSTO] will conduct maneuvers in Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan this fall with the participation of several thousand servicemen, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zaintedinov told Interfax on August 27th. “These are planned exercises. Several thousand servicemen are expected to take part,” he said.

According to him, on September 7-9, Kyrgyzstan will host the exercises of the Collective Forces for rapid deployment of the Central Asian region for collective security “Border-2021”.

Zaintedinov said that the Search-2021 exercise with the intelligence forces of the armed forces of the CSTO member states, the logistics units “Echelon-2021” and the Collective Rapid Reaction Force “Interaction-2021” will be held in Tajikistan in October near the border with Afghanistan.

A special tactical exercise “Cobalt-2021” with special units of the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO is planned in Tajikistan in November. As part of this exercise, tasks will be developed to suppress the activities of illegal armed groups.

The CSTO includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan, which chairs the organization in 2021. The CSTO has a collective rapid reaction force.
