Poland joins the battle for the production of Turkish Bayraktar TB2

KYIV, ($1=26.64 Ukrainian Hryvnia) – The International Defense Investment Forum was held in Kyiv on August 12 this year based on the Sikorsky Challenge 2021 platform. In any case, the Polish authorities have already started “contour” talks with their Turkish counterparts, learned BulgarianMilitary.com, citing Defense Express.

Sikorsky Challenge 2021 gave the following news: Baykar Defense wants to create not only a production site in Ukraine but also a research center.

But it seems that Ukraine may have a competitor in this area. In this case, we are talking about Poland, which has signed a contract worth $ 270 million for the supply of four Bayraktar TB2 unmanned aerial vehicles, the first of which must arrive before 2022.

Polsatnews writes that the head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, Pavlo Soloch, has met with unnamed security advisers to the presidents of Turkey and Romania. The participants in the dialogue discussed not only “common” security challenges, such as the situation in Afghanistan or future Russian “West 2021” exercises. The participants in the dialogue also talked about possible cooperation between Turkey and Poland in the production of Bayraktar TB2 drones.

Polsatnews reproduces such words of Pavel Soloch “there is a desire to establish direct cooperation, Poland can become a center of cooperation of the whole region” in the context of the prospects for “unmanned” cooperation with Turkey.

Soloch stressed that his initiatives for “unmanned” cooperation with Turkey have been coordinated with other representatives of Poland’s military and political leadership, including Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak and President Andrzej Duda.

Even if in this case we are talking only about “contour” agreements, which may not receive their development, this should still be an incentive for the Ukrainian government to step up work on setting up a joint venture with Baykar Defense in Ukraine.
