Failed opportunities are sending the newest US tanks in Europe
WARSAW, BM, ($1=3.88 Polish Zloty/ 0.85 Euros) – As we announced last year, Poland was keen to join the project for a new European tank, led by Germany and France. Even then, however, the two Western European countries flatly did not agree to accept Warsaw as part of the project, and as we predicted, Poland turned to the purchase of American equipment.

On Wednesday, July 14, 2021, in Vesola, where the headquarters of the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade is located, a press conference was held with the participation of the Head of the Ministry of National Defense Mariusz Blaszczak, Deputy Prime Minister Jaroslav Kaczynski, who is also Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Defense.
Details were provided on the acquisition by the Polish Armed Forces of the US M1A2 Abrams SEPv3 MBT.
These tanks are the latest option recently put into service by the US military. The armor has been improved over the previous ones while increasing the survival of the crew. To protect the tank, it is worth adding a remote anti-explosive system and new internal fire protection systems.
The power unit was also modified. The alternator, sliding ring, and housing power distribution unit (eHPDU) / common remote switching modules (CRSM) and the battery monitoring system (BMS) have been improved. An auxiliary unit has been added. The communication system was also improved. A significant part of the modifications concerned the electronic architecture of the tank and the energy production system so that it could be adapted to possible further improvements. New communication systems were also introduced.
The fire control system has also been modified by adding an ammunition communication system that allows information to be sent to compatible missiles such as the M829A4 Advanced Kinetic Energy (AKE) anti-tank kinetic armor-piercing drill and the XM1147 Advanced Multi-Purpose (AMP) high-explosive / multifunction rocket. The changes that took place in the tank also included a CROWS-LP remote-controlled weapon module.
