Russia has conducted a large-scale exercise in the Pacific
MOSCOW, BM, ($1= 72.64 rubles) – Russia is conducting a large-scale naval and air exercise in the waters of the Pacific Ocean near the United States, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. In addition to warships of the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy, the exercise also includes deep-sea Russian Tu-95 and Tu-22M3 bombers.
- Japanese-American maneuvers and exercises in the Pacific Ocean
- Russian spy warship saw the failed US missile tests
- Russian submarine fires torpedoes in the Baltic Sea
The bombers attacked a conditional enemy, simulating cruise missile strikes on certain conventional targets. Russia’s defense ministry says the two bombers were exterminated by a high-altitude MiG-31BM fighter jet. Russian aircraft involved in the exercise took off from their base in Kavchatka and also took part in an air refueling exercise from a Russian aircraft tanker.
Russia’s Defense Ministry says new aerosol camouflage devices were used during the exercise to cover the Russian warship and its weapons. As a result, the ministry reports that radars cannot categorize the type of warship, but only the fact that it is a ship. The Varyag missile cruiser and the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate took part in the exercise.
In a closed aquatic environment in the Pacific Ocean, the Russian navy conducted additional artillery fire on a simulated naval and air target. The artillery fire was carried out with the new Russian 100 mm universal ship gun A-190, using separate artillery stands.
The Russian Defense Ministry reports that during the exercise, Russia used more than 20 ships, submarines and support ships, 20 aircraft, and the Russian space force. A total of more than 30 assigned tasks and combat exercises have been completed, with the air force spending more than 100 hours in the air and the naval helicopters more than 20 hours.
Several exercises were performed: controlling the forces at a great distance from the bases, conducting anti-submarine operations, organizing the air defense of the detachments, convoy operations, joint strikes on detachments of ships and important infrastructure facilities of an imaginary enemy, organization of all types of support: operational, combat, logistical, medical and others. The exercise took place from June 7 to 24.
We remind you those maneuvers of the Russian navy in the Pacific brought 6 warships practically to the “entrance” of the United States, 18 km from Hawaii. The information is disseminated by both Russian and American media. The ships were originally thought to be 150-200 km from the Hawaiian Islands. We remind you that the largest American military facilities are located on the Hawaiian Peninsula.
Sources claim that this fact was hidden from American citizens initially. But later it turned out that the ships were so close to shore that it was possible to see with the naked eye from the coast of Hawaii. Experts say one of the six Russian ships was reconnaissance.
As we reported earlier this year a Russian reconnaissance warship in international waters, but near Hawaii, observed and tracked the missile tests of the U.S. Navy. Then, the U.S. Navy spokesman Captain John Gay gave this information to a press briefing after the failed tests. According to the American captain, the presence of a Russian reconnaissance ship is not accidental, but the Navy knows about it and monitors it using patrol planes and ships.
