Next big thing – a flying taxi in Los Angeles and Miami in 2024

WASHINGTON, BM – The American company Archer Aviation has the ambitious idea to launch a new air transport for the residents of the two hottest American cities – Los Angeles and Miami. This news was announced by the company’s co-founder and CEO Brett Adcock on June 10 during the official presentation ceremony of the flying taxi the Maker.

The Maker is a zero-emission electric passenger drone that takes off like a helicopter but moves like an airplane. According to preliminary estimates, if Maker flies in the skies of the two cosmopolitan cities in 2024, the price per passenger will be between $ 3 and $ 4 per mile.

Several investments and airlines are already showing serious interest in Archer Aviation and its passenger drone Maker. According to Reuters, investment in the company is growing daily. And if money is not a problem, Archer Aviation will have to decide the biggest – the issuance of a license to operate air transport in an urban country.

Hundreds of companies around the world work and develop technologies in the field of urban air mobility. According to Reuters, taxis can fly at 240 km per hour for distances up to 100 km.

The interest in such transport is gaining more and more popularity among the existing and established airlines on the international markets. Market demand makes them look for new opportunities to improve their services and step into a whole new niche in passenger air transport.

Two days ago, another US company, Vertical Aerospace, announced that it was listed on the stock exchange and went public in a deal worth nearly $ 2.2 billion. The company develops vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (VTOL) and has already received the support of investors from one of the giants in the industry – American Airlines.

Analysts say the problem is not the construction of such public vehicles, but the time it will take to “break” the authorities to issue such licenses. And in order not to lag behind the United States, the largest regulator in Europe officially stated in April that it expects such vehicles to appear in Europe at the same time as it will happen in Los Angeles and Miami – 2024.
