Will NATO secretly supply weapons to Ukraine? According to Russia – yes
MOSCOW, BM, ($1=72.92 rubles) – The Russian Ministry of Defense believes that under the guise of military exercises, NATO plans to supply modern weapons, ammunition, and other materials to the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the territory of Ukraine.
- Portugal opposes Ukraine’s accession to NATO
- Germany will not support NATO in a possible war with Russia
- Russia: If NATO makes a mistake, we’re ready for unfavorable development
Major General Igor Konashenkov, a Russian Ministry of Defense representative, told reporters in the middle of the week. According to him, in the future, this weapon, as in previous years, will end up in Donbas.
We can look at the version of the Ministry of Defense and assume that the delivery of weapons can take place during the landing of a landing attack. And its size is unlikely to exceed the size of a naval battalion (a motorized infantry battalion). Therefore, most likely, the armed forces of various countries of the North Atlantic Alliance and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be represented during this event by no more than companies.
We cannot rule out that after the completion of this specific stage of the exercises, part of the weapons, military and special equipment, stockpiles of ammunition, and other material means will be left on the Ukrainian training grounds and transferred (probably according to an act) to units and subdivisions of the armed forces of Ukraine.
First of all, in this respect, it is necessary to talk about light-wheeled and tracked vehicles, which, most likely, will not be returned to the landing ships after maneuvers.
At the same time, speculation about some significant amounts of weapons and material resources, especially those of an operational and strategic nature, which could hypothetically transfer to the Ukrainian army, is probably not worth it.
First, solving such problems requires a qualitatively different number of participants in the exercise. In the course of an airborne landing operation, at least NATO must land a few divisions. Secondly, the alliance’s forces cannot hide significant quantities of weapons and materials left on the Kherson and Mykolaiv regions from the intelligence of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
According to official figures, only 4,000 fighters and commanders participate in the Sea Breeze exercises, which does not even correspond to the brigade.
Thus, at best (if delivery will be made at all), the weapons and military equipment left to the Ukrainians will be sufficient to equip a motorized infantry battalion, but nothing more.
