Did the US send a transport plane with weapons to Israel?
BERLIN, (BM) – The United States supports Israel and its right to defend itself and has promised not to interfere in the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians, particularly the political-military movement Hamas. However, sources claim that an American C-17 Globemaster III transport plane took off from Rammstein base in Germany and landed at Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. According to them, this happened on May 15 – right in fierce rocket fire.
There are two main versions of such a flight – delivery of weapons “for rent” from the United States [for example, air defense systems Patriot – ed.] or evacuation of US diplomats and embassy representatives.
According to official information, the evacuation of Americans has already taken place. According to the American edition The Hill, Washington evacuated the 120 Americans on Thursday, May 14. Thus, the question of what this flight was on May 15 [the next day – ed.] remains open.
In reality, Israel has purchased American Patriot air defense systems. However, the intense rocket fire from Hamas, which Israel has officially confirmed, is seriously burdening the Israeli short-range missile system, Iron Dome.
Tel Aviv claims that nearly 3,000 rockets were fired from Gaza. Of these, about 500 missiles exploded in Gaza and did not reach the target. With an Iron Dome success rate of 90%, this means that nearly 250 Palestinian missiles have not been intercepted.

So, the possible sending of additional air defense systems has its logic. So far, there is no official comment from either the United States or Israel on what the C-17 Globemaster III transported.
The situation at the moment
The “rocket war” between Israel and the political-military movement Hamas began on May 10, and so far, there has been no day in which the two sides have stopped firing. Hamas continues to shell various cities in Israel. Tel Aviv returned fire with decisive air raids and artillery attacks.
In recent days, Tel Aviv has reported that Israeli defense forces have eliminated leading members and leaders of various wings of Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Both factions confirmed this information.
Israel conducted a large-scale military operation just 36 hours ago in which 160 planes attacked 150 Hamas targets, mostly connected to the organization’s underground tunnels in Gaza known as the “Hamas subway.” According to unofficial information, about 1,000 bombs were dropped by the Israeli Air Force during the operation.

At the same time one of Hamas’s combat brigades, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam, tried to cause a chemical accident in Israel by attacking the chemical plant in Nir Oz with a massive missile and drone attacks.
China has suggested that the UN intervene
Beijing has also not remained indifferent to political talk about the Middle East conflict. The foreign ministry issued a press release Sunday, May 16, saying it stands behind the Palestinian people and has the right to defend itself against Israel.
At the same time, China proposes three points on which the UN can work urgently to prevent conflict. One is the long-forgotten UN proposal of “two countries, two peoples,” which could be vital in resolving the entire Middle East issue.
Such a solution to the problem was immediately supported by the Palestinian Foreign Ministry and helped, giving a clear signal that the Palestinians are ready to sit down at the negotiating table with Israel.
What is happening in the area?
The violence began after the focus fell on controversial judicial and political actions over the Palestinian-populated Sheikh Jara district of East Jerusalem. An Israeli court initially ruled that Palestinians should be evicted from the neighborhood and be populated with Israelis. A hearing on the eviction followed, but it never ended last Sunday and was postponed.
On Monday, May 10, Jerusalem was subjected to a brief rocket attack by al-Quds and Hamas with a request on the eviction decision. Israel did not comply with the Palestinians, which led to a retaliatory strike and a rocket fire between the two countries for the second day in a row.
According to a field source, Israel has involved fighter jets and tanks in the conflict, which are hitting 130 targets in the Gaza Strip. These goals are related to the Hamas movement. According to the Israeli authorities, these goals are also associated with terrorist organizations.
The international community welcomes the actions of Israelis and Palestinians, but as statements from both sides make clear, both sides may reach no agreement soon.
