“During the night, 160 planes simultaneously attacked 150 targets in 40 minutes. The target of the attack was a network of tunnels used by the radicals for transport and shelter under the city of Gaza,” Conricus said.
The army spokesman noted that several media outlets reported on Friday the start of a ground phase operation in Gaza, which was not valid. Still, the military blamed it, noting that the army’s press release in English was “inaccurate.” Asked if Israel intended to launch a ground operation in the enclave, Conricus said the military “has plans, there are training orders” but could not give information about its intentions to journalists.
Conricus also said that according to estimates by the Israeli military Palestinian radicals from the Gaza Strip, they had fired more than 1,800 rockets at Israel since May 10, 430 of which fell on the territory of the Palestinian enclave itself without flying across the border. On Monday, Jerusalem was subjected to a brief rocket attack by al-Quds and Hamas with a request on the eviction decision. Israel did not comply with the Palestinians, which led to a retaliatory strike and a rocket fire between the two countries for the second day in a row.
According to a field source, Israel has involved fighter jets and tanks in the conflict, which are hitting 130 targets in the Gaza Strip. These goals are related to the Hamas movement. According to the Israeli authorities, these goals are also associated with terrorist organizations.
