Newest MiG-35 fighters received new combat capabilities
MOSCOW, (BM) – The newest MiG-35 fighters, which are a continuation of the MiG-29K / KUB and MiG-29M / M2, can use any aircraft weapon that exists, including advanced models. Mushegh Baloyan, a representative of the MiG construction airline, announced this information. “Thanks to the new combat capabilities, the aircraft has become the perfect and effective aviation complex for gaining air supremacy,” he said.
The MiG-35 in its armament and equipment surpasses the MiG-29 in everything: new radar and OLS, helmet-mounted target designation system, air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, an extensive list of free-fall and adjustable bombs, he said. “The first to receive the latest Russian MiG-35 fighters will be the pilots of the Swifts aerobatics group,” said a company representative.
He explained that the construction aviation corporation turned to the leadership of the Russian military department and offered to equip the Swifts with new fighters, which are now undergoing final tests. The approved state armament program envisages the supply of MiG-35 aircraft. After the primary customer makes the decision, the MiG company is ready to replace the MiG-29 fleet with the MiG-35.
Flight tests and an international presentation of the 4 ++ MiG-35 combat aircraft began four years ago, in January 2017. During the same year, by December, factory tests were completed. Russia created the MiG-35 fighter to work in zones of high-intensity armed conflicts, in the conditions of a saturated and echeloned enemy air defense system, TASS reports.
What does the armament of the MiG-35 include?
In development, the number of external load stations for weapon systems was increased from seven to nine so that the MiG-35 can carry 6.5 tons of bomb load or eight air-to-surface missiles. Configured as an interceptor or aerial superiority fighter, the MiG-35 can deploy R-73E or R-73M2 missile and R-77 and R-27T medium-range air-to-air missiles. TV-guided air-to-surface missiles Ch-29T and Ch-29TE are available for attacks on ground targets and up to eight containers B-8M1, each with 20 unguided air-to-surface rockets S-8, for close-range attacks.
To combat ground-based air defense, the MiG-35 can carry up to four Ch-31 anti-radar missiles and use two of them simultaneously. Four anti-ship missiles, Ch-31A or four Ch-35, can be used against ships. Furthermore, free-falling, TV-guided bombs KAB-500Kr and KAB-500Kr-OD, as well as unguided bombs OFAB-250-270, can be carried.
