Kremlin puts pressure on the bureau of radio Liberty station

MOSCOW, (BM) – Radio Liberty is threatened with raids for refusing to pay fines for not labeling its content. Material with such content was published in the British The Guardian.

In April, a court fined Radio Liberty for not having the required labeling of materials. The management says it is not going to pay anything. And he immediately says that refusal to pay the fine is fraught with “police raids, blocking of bank accounts or the arrest of high-ranking employees.”

“They [Roskomnadzor – ed.] either want us to lose our physical presence in the country, or to neutralize us, make us ineffective and not attractive to our audience,” said Jamie Fly, president of the media corporation.

Radio Liberty says they have achieved “tremendous success” covering the Navalny case and the Moscow and Belarusian protests.

“This is what the Russian government probably sees as a threat,” said Kirill Sukhotsky, editor-in-chief of news programs on the 24-hour TV channel Present Vremya.

Foreseeing the possible consequences, the corporation began to transfer some of its personnel and equipment from Moscow to its central news department in Prague and an office in Kyiv.

“If the Russian authorities think that we will leave the country in advance, they are deeply mistaken. We will stay in Moscow,” Jamie Fly commented on this decision.

We remind you that a court decision imposed fines on Radio Liberty in the total amount of 71.5 million rubles [$950,000] for the lack of marking a foreign agent on the content produced.
