Rebels have killed Chad President Idris Debbie

N’DJAMENA, (BM) – The President of Chad died from his wounds in the hospital, killed while defending his country, and was struck by rebel bullets. This information is stated in an official press release of the Chadian army. Chad Azem’s army spokesman Bermandoa Aguna confirmed the information, adding that Idris Debbie had died in the name of his homeland, defending it from rebels and terrorism.

The assassination of the President of Chad took place in the northern part of the country, while the President of the country personally led an army unit that came into a fierce clash with the rebels.

Chad has already closed its land and air borders. The country has set up a transitional and military council, making the transition with the next leader smooth and smooth. According to various sources, the son of the President, Lieutenant General Mahamat Idris Debbie, will lead the country for the next 18 months until the presidential election.

It is paradoxical, but only a few days ago, on April 11, new presidential elections were held. Idris Debbie showed dominance over his opponent and won nearly 80% of the vote in the country.

Debbie took power after an armed uprising in 1990 and has since become one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders and a close ally of Western forces fighting Islamists in West and Central Africa.

Chad declared two weeks of mourning after the President’s death and imposed evening hours from 6:00 p.m. local time until 5:00 p.m.
