Mk III light helicopter will guard the coasts of India
NEW DELHI, (BM) – The Mk III light helicopter will guard India’s coast after the Indian Navy, and the country’s coast guard received an updated and better version of the plane, learned BulgarianMilitary.com. The Mk III is the pride of India as it is a locally produced helicopter.

The new helicopters’ acquisition became known during the military exhibition Aero India 2021, between 3 and 5 February. The manufacturer of the Mk III is Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. The helicopter’s design and production began in the distant 1984 when in 1992 the Indians made the helicopter’s first flight, and in 2002 it officially came into operation.
What is the Mk III light helicopter?
ALH (Advanced Light Helicopter) Dhruv, as its full name, is a new generation helicopter. A 5.5-ton engine, which is multi-purpose and multifunctional, powered the helicopter. The helicopter does have two main versions – civilian and military. The civilian version was completed in 2004, and as mentioned above, the military entered service in the Indian Army in 2002.
By mid-2017, HAL produced the helicopter in nearly 230 units, 216 of them for the Indian Air Force.
ALH Dhruv has several military versions – Mk-I, Mk-II, Mk-III, and Mk-IV. MK III. The helicopter’s penultimate performance – MK III has a Shakti-1H engine, as well as a brand new updated electronic warfare system. MK III is arming with various missiles, a fire control system, a helicopter vibration control system, and a modern warning system.
