ISIS carried out the twin suicide bombings in central Baghdad
BAGHDAD, (BM) – The two attacks yesterday, Thursday (January 21), which killed at least 30 people, was carried out by the terrorist group ISIS. The terrorist group’s media wing published this information, which officially took responsibility for yesterday’s bombing.
Abu Yusif Al-Ansari and Mohammad Arif Al-Muhajir are the two terrorists who carried out the twin attacks. Thirty people were killed, and 100 were injured. It is clear from the ISIS statement that the victims are “al-rafidah” [rejectors] for them. According to Islamic State, this is a derogatory term for Shiite victims.
The two twin attacks yesterday, January 21, are the first severe bombings for the calendar year 2021 and the first in the Iraqi capital for the year. The two attacks took place in central Baghdad, with both terrorists activating bombs attached to their vests.
Iraqi forces have already stepped up operations in the capital, searching for sleeping ISIS cells in an attempt to prevent further bombings.
