Middle East: Dozens of American bases are ‘targeted’ by Iran
BEIRUT, (BM) – Dozens of American bases located in various parts of the Middle East are at the forefront of the Iranian military and could be attacked. Retired Lebanese General Amin Mohamed Hoteit expressed this opinion in an interview with the Tasnim news agency. According to the general, 65,000 US troops stationed at 54 military bases are under daily threat from Iranian strikes.

Amin Mohamed Hoteit is a former brigadier general in the Lebanese forces. He is currently a lecturer at a Lebanese university. According to him, Iran has shown opportunities to attack military bases in the Washington area after the attack on the Ain Al-Assad airbase located in Iraq.
The fact that Iran has managed to strike a base of this size (Ayn al-Assad – ed.) only shows that the Islamic Republic has its operational capabilities to carry out other similar attacks against other military bases, the former brigadier general said in an interview.
Amin Mohammed Hoteit believes that American soldiers there already have “planted fear” in their heads after the Ain Al-Assad airbase attack. This fear is causing by the realization that the American soldier can not always react, despite the weapons equipment. According to the general, a vital role in the successful attack on the airbase plays the decision to fire missiles from Iran.
Speaking again about the fear of American soldiers, Hoteit stressed President Trump’s political speech. The US president promised security after the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, but the Pentagon had not provided such protection, Hoteit said. “Tehran has military capabilities and potential that could successfully use to accurately defeat any American target, despite the” excellent “American air defense systems,” the Lebanese brigadier general concluded.
Iran is training a drones attack over USS Nimitz
As BulgarianMilitary.com reported earlier this week citing the Iranian state news agency IRNA that Iran is launching large-scale air exercises with drones. Iran decided in response to the US decision to leave the USS Nimitz in the Persian Gulf region.
The exercises began January 5, and include all military units of the Iranian army – ground forces, air forces, and naval forces. According to information from the Iranian Ministry of Defense, the exercise take a place in central Iran. According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, the practice includes hundreds of air operations with drones and a simulated attack on the US super aircraft carrier USS Nimitz.
We remind you that Iran is celebrating one year since the assassination of Iranian General Quds Qasem Soleimani, whose assassination was carried out with the United States’ assistance. In response to a possible threat from Iran, the Pentagon and the Trump administration in Washington have decided to leave the aircraft carrier, USS Nimitz, in the Persian Gulf region. Thus, tensions between the two countries remain strong and are unlikely to ease any time soon.
On January 4, Iranian Brigadier General Mohammad-Hossein Dadras stated to state media that the country had become a regional superpower in recent years. The general also refers to the fact that Iran is a leading manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles in the region.
“The army of the Islamic Republic of Iran always, following the threats of transregional states and enemies, takes initiatives to upgrade equipment and conduct military exercises,” he also stressed.
How does the United States react to the threat from Iran?
Washington stated the decision to keep its aircraft carrier in the area. According to Acting US Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, the “duty” aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf prevents possible Iranian provocations or hostilities. He also stressed that the ship’s positioning responds to Iranian threats against the US president and individual US institutions without detail in his statement.
Military analysts and sources from various government agencies say another reason for leaving the USS Nimitz is an upcoming military exercise between the United States and partners in the region. Such a possibility is genuine and should not be taken as a surprise. According to sources from the US Department of Defense, such an exercise is forthcoming and will be led by the 5th US Navy stationed in Bahrain. Such a practice aims to ensure proper coordination of joint actions and response to attacks by enemy forces.
