According to the Israelis information, the tests were conducted days ago at a test site in India. A new MRSAM, an air and missile defense system, was tested, a joint development between the Israeli IAI and the Indian DRDO. According to preliminary reported results, the tests covered all the characteristics of the system.
According to information provided by the Israeli company IAI, the new system has advanced phased radar, advanced mobile starters, and advanced interceptors. Both Indian and Israeli forces use such air and missile defense systems. MRSAM categorizes as a system developed specifically for India.
Military engineers and representatives of the two companies confirmed that the Indian test site’s tests aimed to play out different interception scenarios. MRSAM completed the missions, and the system successfully intercepted the set air targets. According to a circulated press release, the test scenario began with an air target and the system’s launch. Then the radar to the network correctly detected the bridge position of the target. The computer calculated the trajectory, direction, speed, and MRSAM fired the missile. After the launch, the missile hit the mark with a precision strike.
Boaz Levy IAI’s President and CEO: “MRSAM Air & Missile Defense System is a cutting edge, innovative system, that once again has proven its advanced capabilities against a variety of threats. Every trial in an air defense system is a complex operational event, and the COVID-19 limitations significantly increase the complexity. This trial is yet another testimonial to the strong partnership between IAI and India and the two nations.IAI is proud to lead this impressive cooperation with DRDO and the Indian forces and is dedicated to its continued success.”
Indian Army launched new quick reaction surface-to-air missile [QRSAM]
The Indian Ministry of Defense issued a press release confirming that the Indian Army has already carried out the next necessary tests of a surface-to-air missile, as we reported on November 19, 2020. The missile tested by the Indian Army was a QRSAM or Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile.

According to the Indian military, the tests involved locating, intercepting and destroying an unmanned aerial vehicle. The performed tests have shown the required and set characteristics and parameters of the new Indian artillery system. Also, the tests themselves have proven the effectiveness and striking power of the missile’s warhead. The Indian Ministry claims that the test was made only a few days ago – on November 17.
The Indian Ministry of Defense also shares full information about the way the tests have been performed and the results they have shown. According to them, the radar of the missile system managed to detect the unmanned aerial vehicle at a great range, after which the missile was fired automatically, after issuing a command to launch from the computer connected to the radar. After the missile was fired, the self-targeting mode was activated and the missile reached and destroyed the unmanned aerial vehicle after activating the warhead. Throughout the flight of the missile, the radar gave clear information about its trajectory, so that the Indian military constantly monitored its flight until the destruction of the target.
BulgarianMilitary.com reminds you that the first test of the same type of missile was performed again a few days ago – on November 13. Thus, within 24 hours, the Indian army has confirmed the combat capability of the missile. One of the characteristics of the new future missile is that it can track the target in flight and commit to its destruction, even when changing the trajectory or position of the target.
So far, there is no official information from the Indian Ministry of Defense when India is preparing to put into operation and armament the new Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile. However, according to Indian military sources, the epidemic situation in the world has seriously changed the plans for testing and commissioning of the missile, so it is expected that in 2021 Quick Reaction Surface-to-Air Missile will already be introduced into service in the Indian Army.
India in the race of hypersonic arms. Successful flight of the missile demonstrator
Indian authorities have officially confirmed the successful testing of the prototype hypersonic rocket, the HSTDV. According to the announcement of the local state agency DRDO, tested on September 7, 2020. The demonstrator achieved Mach 6 speed during its first flight test, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Space24. In addition to its combat purpose, the developed system is also to be used to carry light satellites into orbit around the Earth.

The firing of the nucleus of the Indian hypersonic system took place at 11.03 a.m. from the test site named after Dr. Abdul Kalam’a [on the former Wheeler Island – on the Bay of Bengal off the coast of the state of Orissa]. The hypersonic rocket demonstrator was raised 30 km before it detached from the launch rocket, and then fired the scramjet, a jet engine with a supersonic combustion chamber. The course of the test was supervised by the Military Research and Development Organization – DRDO [Defense Research Development Organization].
Media reports of the successful trial with the prototype of the Indian hypersonic drive were confirmed on the same day on official profiles of public agencies and Indian government representatives on social media. “India has successfully tested the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV) in flight, a giant leap forward in native defense technologies and a significant step towards #sashaktbharat and #atmanirbharbharat. ] “– stated in the official DRDO message. “The vehicle fulfilled all the prescribed parameters, including withstanding the temperature of 2.5 thousand. degrees Celsius and maintaining speed parameters ”– declared one of the older representatives of DRDO.
India is the fourth country after the US, Russia and China to have a successful approach to testing hypersonic vehicle technology. According to the PTI agency, the Indian government intends to use the technology, including for low-cost launch of satellites into orbit. Sources at DRDO say scientists will develop an armed hypersonic rocket capable of a cruising speed of 2 km / sec over the next 5 years.
Work on the HSTDV itself, however, had previously been somewhat delayed compared to the announcements regarding the original testing within 2017-2018. The Scramjet [Supersonic Combustion Ramjet] jet engine is a type of supersonic combustion chamber rocket propulsion capable of generating speeds far exceeding a conventional ramjet. This type of engine is capable of achieving hypersonic speeds in excess of ten times the Mach number.
