Russia is behind the cyber-attacks against US federal agencies, AP reports
WASHINGTON, (BM) – Russia is behind the cyber-attacks against US federal agencies. At least that is the statement of the Associated Press, which refers to their source. According to journalists from the Associated Press, the White House is ready with the statement. However, the Trump administration is still in no hurry to do so. The Associated Press claims to have similar instructions.

According to US President Donald Trump, the recent cyber attacks are not as bad as the country’s media claim. He even stressed that the investigation had not proved Russia’s involvement yet. “When something happens, the media starts talking in unison about the Russian trail. This trail is their priority, because in the first place, for financial reasons, they are scared to death to discuss the option that China is behind everything. But this it is possible,” the President said.
A similar opinion had been expressed by the headquarters of the newly elected President of the United States, Joe Biden. According to Jennifer Granholm, Washington still has no information on who is behind the recent cyberattacks. “We don’t know what happened, the scale of what happened, and honestly, we don’t know who did it,” she said. Simultaneously, she assured that Joe Biden’s team took the incident very seriously and that Biden would give the perpetrators a “powerful response.” Jennifer Granholm expects to head the US Department of Energy in the new administration after January 21, 2021.
According to Granholm, such an attack is of national security. There is a risk that countries other than the United States will be compromised. According to her, this is a cyber attack directly against the country’s nuclear security. We remind you that one of the attacked federal institutions was the US National Nuclear Security Administration [NNSA].
The “Russian trail” began circulating in the American media after some politicians’ statements. Mark Warner stated emphatically in an interview with the ABC that “everything points to Russia.” A piece of similar information was made recently by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Mark Warner is vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. The same tone with accusations against Russia was continued by Marco Rubio, chairman of the Republican Senate Intelligence Committee.
Rubio says it will take weeks to reach the source of the cyberattacks. According to him, the elimination of the damages and consequences will take several months.
We remind you that information leaked in the American media about the cyber attack. They have managed to compromise the systems of the US Treasury Department, the Department of Homeland Security, the US Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration [NTIA], and the Pentagon, DOE, and NNSA networks.
The media claim that foreign governments supported the hacker attack. But they do not say what and how they came to such a conclusion. Only the Washington Post claims that the Russians are firmly behind the cyberattacks. Journalists from the newspaper even specifically cite the hacker groups APT29 or Cozy Bear. According to the Washington Post, these two groups work for Russian intelligence.
