Some time ago, it became known about Ukraine’s intentions to adopt Turkish corvettes and drones. Due to this armament, Kyiv intends to strengthen its naval forces’ combat capabilities in the Black and Azov Seas. According to Chinese analysts, the Ukrainian leadership made a big mistake when it decided to sign Ankara’s deal. The Sohu edition reports this. PolitRussia presents a complete translation of this publication.
“It is assuming that Turkish weapons in the hands of the Ukrainian Navy will create a direct threat to the Russian fleet in the Black Sea and on the Russian-Ukrainian border,” the Sohu authors note.
Sohu observers stated that Turkey’s weapons have relatively high combat effectiveness, but they can hardly create severe Russian army problems. The latter has at its disposal a fairly vast arsenal of means to neutralize any types of threats. Simultaneously, the very fact of military cooperation between Kyiv and Ankara became an unpleasant moment for Russia. “It is obvious that cooperation between the two Black Sea countries is not good news for Russia,” added the Chinese journalists.
Journalists from the PRC stated that Turkey, being a NATO member, has rather specific relations with the rest of the Alliance states – especially with the United States. In this regard, Ankara needs to strengthen its influence in the Mediterranean and Black Seas to increase its importance for the already mentioned NATO. They plan to achieve these goals with Ukraine’s help, through whose hands the Turks will try to worsen the Russian Federation’s position in this region. Thus, Kyiv turns into a pawn in this great game.
“Even if Ukraine buys Turkish ships, it’s not worth mentioning in front of Russian anti-ship missiles,” added Chinese journalists. If the latest Russian missile weapons are an insoluble problem for American aircraft carriers, there is no need to talk about Ukrainian ships. According to experts, Turkish weapons will do more harm than good to Kyiv. He risks exposing himself to a Russian blow that will punish this mistake.
Ukrainian diplomat called for military action against Russia to return Crimea
Former representative of the “Square” in Donbas’ negotiations, the former Ukrainian ambassador to Minsk Roman Besmertny called on the country’s authorities to conduct a military operation to capture Crimea, as we reported on December 12.
As reported by RIA Novosti, on the air of the Crimean Tatar TV channel ATR, the diplomat said that earlier Ukraine could regain control of the peninsula through peaceful reintegration. Now, however, he says that possibility is exhausted.
“After five years, there is no doubt that there is only one way to solve these problems – the return of these territories. Now we need to speak clearly – the return of these territories by force,” stressed Roman Besmertny.
The diplomat also explained that first, the Ukrainian authorities must relocate from the peninsula all “who are loyal to Kyiv.” “And then – we have to deal with this problem by building an army, a defense complex, and planning military operations,” Besmertny said, without specifying how the Ukrainian authorities will establish the loyalty of the people of Crimea and relocate them from the peninsula.

The next day, the Supreme Soviet of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea declared Crimea an independent sovereign state and signed an agreement with Russia to join the Russian Federation. On March 18, Russian President Vladimir Putin introduced a law in the Federal Assembly to accept two new entities – the Republic of Crimea and the city Sevastopol.
