Turkey gave UAVs to Ukraine and confirmed the fears of a possible attack on Donbass

KYIV, (BM) – Nearly a week ago, BulgarianMilitary.com wrote about the possibility of Turkey opening the next front with its actions. After Turkey’s participation in Libya and Syria gradually subsided, and only a few days ago the fire in Nagorno-Karabakh ceased, Ankara is now expected to support Kiev’s efforts to restore the two self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics.

BulgarianMilitary.com learned from sources in the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine that Ankara has donated at least six Bayraktar TB2 attack drones. According to the information provided, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has made the initial decision to deploy the drones in the Kramatorsk region. Kramatorsk is an important and key city in the Donetsk region and in 2014 a big battle was fought there. The deployment of the six drones in this part of Ukraine has led a number of military experts to conclude that Kiev is preparing an attack in another attempt to restore its territorial integrity.

Many analysts say the situation in Kramatorsk could be a second Nagorno-Karabakh. Mostly due to one important fact – there is no information about the presence of any anti-aircraft missile system in the area, which would greatly double the attacking and striking power of Turkish drones. In this case, the efficiency of Bayraktar TB2 will be approximately equal to 100%, according to a number of experts.

The Russian daily EA Daily also wrote as a confirmation of the delivery, referring directly to a message from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The author of the article on the Russian website also claims that Ukrainian military strategists have assessed the capabilities of the Turkish drone and compared the events in Nagorno-Karabakh with those in the Donbas region.

There were rumors half a year ago that Ukraine intends to acquire a large number of these drones. At the beginning of the year, we also wrote, after confirmed information from the Ukrainian Ministry, that Kiev and Ankara will most likely jointly produce attack and reconnaissance drones. There is a logic in the six drones donated by the Turks, as they can be test devices to confirm the combat effectiveness of the drone, and in a real combat environment.

Kyiv is preparing for a large-scale offensive in Donbass, Moscow said

Ukraine’s purchase of new large armaments from Washington could mean Kiev’s preparations for a large-scale offensive in the Donbass in the event of difficulties with peace agreements, explained in May this year Konstantin Zatulin, a member of the State Duma’s committee on CIS affairs and relations with compatriots.

According to him, if the Ukrainian authorities do not like the conditions that will be agreed in the Minsk and “Norman” formats, Kiev may violate all peace agreements and take aggressive options to “resolve” the issue in the Donbass, FAN reports.

“In fact, there were already enough all kinds of signals and hints that if a peaceful settlement does not go according to our option, then Ukraine will undertake a certain act by the end of the year. The purchase of large quantities of weapons fits into these threats,” the parliamentarian detailed.

Earlier, the Ukrainian ambassador to the United States, Vladimir Yelchenko, announced that Kiev and Washington are negotiating the purchase of three large quantities of weapons and the deal should be closed this year. “This weapon is especially important today in the Donbass, in the east of Ukraine, for our protection. We are talking about at least three large parties, and I will not specify,” the Ukrainian diplomat said.

Earlier, the deputy director of the Kiev Center for Army Research, Conversion and Disarmament, Mikhail Samus, said that decommissioned American ships would help Ukraine fundamentally strengthen its position in the Black Sea compared to other regional states.

He called “super success” such a development in which the new Minister of Defense of Ukraine Andriy Taran would deal with this issue. “If we are talking about strengthening Ukraine in the maritime direction, then only the USA can help us here. Quickly transfer to us a certain amount of at least a second-hand missile weapon ship. A dozen ships with cruise missiles can change the balance in the Black Sea,” the expert is sure.
