US military helicopter crashed in Syria. There are suspicions of a missile strike

DAMASCUS, (BM) – BulgarianMilitary.com continues to monitor the situation in the hot war zones around the world, especially in Asia and the Middle East. In recent days, various sources, including American and Arab media, have reported a downed military helicopter to either the US military or coalition partners in the region. According to local sources, the helicopter began to burn during the flight, which resulted in the fall and crash of the military machine in territory controlled by the US military and allies.

The Syrian newspaper Muresalon also wrote about the incident, claiming that the helicopter crashed at the al-Shadadi base, which is located in the province of Al-Hasaka in Syria. What is being spread among the Arab media is that the military helicopter has completely burned down, and the fate of the crew remains unknown. Coalition partners have not yet made a statement on the case, and the US military has not confirmed this information.

However, it is possible that the helicopter did not crash due to a technical malfunction, but was shot down by a rocket fired from the ground. In support of these claims is the fact that the helicopter burned during the flight. However, military experts say that a fire due to a technical malfunction during the flight can also occur and this does not only mean a blow from an enemy missile.

We must also recall that the helicopter crashed in territory controlled by American coalition forces, which would not shoot at a friendly crew.

US-led coalition drone attacks jihadist building in northwestern Syria, 22 were killed

According to the Lebanese news agency Al-Masdar News, a drone, which may have been either American or from coalition forces in the area, attacked and destroyed on October 24 a jihadist building in northwestern Syria. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claims the attack killed 22 people, five of whom were civilians and the rest were part of a jihadist terrorist group. The whole action took place in the province of Idlib in Syria, in the village of Jakara, near the Syrian city of Salkin.

According to unconfirmed information, the drone attacked a building where the commanders of the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham group were located. According to military analysts, this terrorist group is clearly opposed to the Russian-Turkish agreement. Sources claim that at the time of the attack on the building, a dinner was taking place between 11 commanders-in-chief of the group and other related units, claiming that a former ISIL commander was also present.

So far, it is not clear whether the attack came from US forces or their coalition partners in the region, but this is not the first time the Syrian Idlib administration has blamed the United States for such an attack. We recall that earlier in the year, the US-led coalition launched a drone attack in the same region, which aimed again at the destruction of specific commanders of a terrorist organization.

War in Syria

In February, Turkey lost at least 62 troops killed in Syria, nearly 100 soldiers were wounded, dozens of Turkish armored vehicles were destroyed and more than ten drones, including drone, were shot down. Washington has repeatedly accused Moscow of involvement in the deaths of Turkish soldiers, Russia rejects these allegations.

In early March, the presidents of Russia and Turkey, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, concluded an agreement according to which a ceasefire came into force in the Idlib de-escalation zone. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad later said that if the US and Turkish military did not leave the country, Damascus would be able to use force.

The reason for the Russian-Turkish negotiations was a sharp aggravation of the situation in Idlib, where in January a large-scale offensive by the Syrian army against the positions of the armed opposition and terrorists began.

Government forces recaptured nearly half of the Idlib de-escalation zone and left behind a number of Turkish observation posts. After that, Ankara sharply increased its military contingent in the region and launched the operation “Spring Shield” to push the Syrian troops. Turkey is also supported by militants loyal to it.
