US sources: the US Navy in South Aegean could destroy entire Turkish Navy

ATHENS, (BM)“The United States will never allow Erdogan to turn the Mediterranean into a ‘Turkish lake’ and revive any Ottoman Empire,” said Washington-based American journalist Tom Rogan, learned citing Pentapostagma.

This is primarily about US interests and how the US thinks the situation in the Mediterranean should be, to explain. The journalist from the American capital, having a multitude of sources, reveals the US action scenario in the near future.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan seems to have retreated, at least for a while, from his impending confrontation with Greece. But if the Turkish president decides to escalate, Washington has the scenario of sending a “message”. “In this scenario, a US Navy aircraft carrier battle team will go to conduct “exercises” in the Eastern Mediterranean [thus ruling out any Turkish intention for anything else]”, the journalist said.

The Nimitz aircraft carrier battle group is currently in the Arabian Sea. “If the tension hits ‘red’ again in the Eastern Mediterranean, the American fleet will sail with all its might in the Mediterranean region, blocking everything,” he also said.

At the same time, Athens is particularly annoyed by Erdogan’s constant presence of Turkish warships in its Exclusive Economic Zone, which is why it has also sent its own warships that monitor everything.

Sending Turkish warships to accompany the Oruts Reyes is another Ottoman-inspired game by the Turkish president. Erdogan says everywhere that he is stronger and will never back down, so sending an American armada would be a useful serious message for him.

He is struggling with a huge economic crisis at home, which is why he is trying to find a way out of his “games” in the Eastern Mediterranean, exporting his nationalist credentials to his country’s long-time enemy, Greece.

Fortunately, the man who imagines himself as the new Ottoman sultan shows some signs of reconciliation. Pressed by Germany, he finally agreed to start negotiations with Greece. However, Erdogan continues to launch insults in Greece, as he said on Thursday that the Greek government is “childish” and provocative.

The United States and the European Union have absolutely no interest in seeing two NATO member states at war with each other. Only Russia is certainly very interested in this region.

Until now, French President Emmanuel Macron has been the only one sending “threatening messages” to Erdogan to reconsider his illegal plans, but that may no longer be enough.

The arrival of a battle group of a US aircraft carrier would change things, because it could eliminate the entire Turkish navy. Erdogan knows this, even if he does not want to admit it.

“The United States can no longer tolerate any attempt by Erdogan to turn the Eastern Mediterranean into a private imperial playground.”

Erdogan has created and controlled the largest Islamic paramilitary force in the world today, and he has close ties to jihadists, Iranians and Chinese, who are uncharted, and when they are revealed, the planet will be intimidated by his plans.

Would the presence of an American armada in the Mediterranean be enough, or is a completely different policy required in the danger from the East of the alliance … in general, with the immediate implementation, for example, of the creation of the state of Kurdistan?

The oil conflict between Turkey and Greece and their long-standing relationship

In 2020, tensions between the already long-disputed countries in the Balkans – Greece and Turkey – will escalate sharply again. The reason for this is oil fields located in specific eastern parts of the Mediterranean, which give rise to a territorial dispute between the two Balkan countries.

All this, as expected, not only led to an escalation of political speeches and attacks between Greece and Turkey, but brought the Balkans closer to a possible new war after Athens and Ankara launched a series of military exercises in the region.

At the same time, Germany is trying to play the role of a peacemaker between the Balkan countries, while France has directly decided to support Greece in its conflict with the Turks.

The mission ended with virtually no results. Then France came out on the side of Greece, sending its frigate and helicopter carrier to the Aegean Sea for joint maneuvers with the Greeks.

Note that Turkey and Greece have been at enmity for centuries. It was during the fall of Byzantium, and during the Ottoman Empire, and continues to this day. The last time these countries fought each other in 1974 in Cyprus. Turkey occupied the island after a military coup on it. After the discovery of a significant hydrocarbon reserve off the coast of Cyprus, sovereignty disputes continued.

Countries cannot share maritime economic zones. This is a Greek island located near the southern Turkish city of Antalya. Greece believes that part of this area belongs to the so-called Kastelorizo continental shelf. Turkey disputes this, claiming that the island is too small and too far from mainland Greece to make such a claim.

However, this raises new problems as it turns out that the disputed body of water separating Greece and Turkey is the apple of discord and the dispute between them. According to the Turks, the country’s continental shelf should and should be eroded from the mainland and that the territory south of the Greek island is only a few kilometers from the southern coast of Turkey. This is the logic they follow in Ankara and believe that it belongs to its exclusive zone

At the same time, Athens argues and believes that the borders of a country should be determined on the basis of the islands that surround it, and they are an integral part of defining the borders of the continental shelf. Greece makes these claims in its UN maritime law. All this gives the Greeks the exclusive right to the territory, no matter how close it is to the Turkish border. However, there is one very important fact that the Turks are using at the moment, namely that Ankara has not signed the UN law on the law of the sea, which allows it to interpret the situation differently.
