‘Parallel universe’: There was no incident between Turkish and French ships, NATO says
ATHENS, (BM) – NATO is ‘brain dead’, which is doing everything it can to “acquit” Turkey! NATO’s investigation into the heatwave between French and Turkish ships in June was seen as an extremely sensitive issue for public discussion, with neither Paris nor Ankara taking responsibility, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Pentapostagma.
This information was given to Reuters by diplomats who know the case. The agency’s report says that hot episode underscores NATO’s difficulties with Turkey, not only with France, but also with Greece’s dispute over natural resources in the Eastern Mediterranean and with the leader of the alliance, the United States.
The information that is coming to light is extremely shocking, as in the 130-page report, there is no mention of the harassment that took place against the French war by the Turks!
The NATO Secretary General immediately ordered an investigation into the incident, according to international media. For three weeks, NATO experts studied the allegations of both sides, namely France and Turkey. The decision of the Secretary General was not to disturb either side and so the final conclusion is that … no incident took place.
The chronicle of the hot episode of France – Turkey in the Mediterranean
On June 10, a French frigate on a NATO mission tried to inspect a Tanzanian-flagged cargo ship suspected of smuggling weapons into Libya. According to Paris, the French warship was the target of an “extremely aggressive” maneuver by Turkish frigates in the Mediterranean region.
For its part, Turkey denies the accusation, arguing that it was the French frigate that moved threateningly. According to Reuters, the investigation seems unlikely to resolve the dispute between the two countries over the issue.
A NATO official confirmed that the report was completed, but declined to comment further.
“They put it under the rug,” said one European diplomat, while another noted that NATO’s determination to keep Turkey on its side, due to its military influence and strategic position, suggests that he was not willing to move his finger.
Reuters reports the “fire” being fired from both sides, with Emmanuel Macron talking about “unacceptable behavior” of the Turkish government and Recep Tayyip Erdogan replying: “Do not deal with Turkey.”
