New plant in Poland will support the Patriot anti-missile systems

WARSAW, (BM) – The construction of a new production plant has commenced in cooperation with Wojskowe Zakłady No.1 S.A. The new plant located in Dęblin will participate in the supply chain of PAC-3 MSE missiles for the Patriot air defense system for the Polish Armed Forces, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Defence24.

These activities are directly related to the implementation by Lockheed Martin of industrial partnership agreements with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. and offset agreements concluded with the Ministry of National Defense after the purchase by the Polish Army of the Patriot system under the Wisła program.

According to preliminary plans, next year, after the completion of construction, about 20 Polish workers are to be employed in the new facility with an area of 3,000 m2, and the plant itself is to participate in the production of components for the PAC-3 MSE missiles.

“This program is a milestone in the current and future relationship with Lockheed Martin. […] We are impatiently waiting for further, joint work on the WISŁA program, which is one of the key projects to ensure the security of Poland in the near future. cooperation with Lockheed Martin also in other programs “, member of the Management Board of WZL1 and Director of the Dęblin Branch, Bartłomiej Kacperczyk said.

The cooperation between WZL1 and Lockheed Martin began in 2018 under an offset agreement concluded with the State Treasury of the Republic of Poland. As part of this, the concern undertook to cooperate with this plant in the production and qualification of the PAC-3 MSE (Missile Segment Enhancement) launch container chamber.

The package of offset obligations performance agreements with Lockheed Martin was approved in March 2019. precisely the capabilities related to the PAC-3 MSE missiles, as well as the establishment of the Hardware-In-The-Loop missile research center (it will be built at WZE in Zielonka).

Lockheed Martin reminds that it has been present in Poland for three decades. He opened his first office in the center of Warsaw in 1997 and since then has been working closely with the Polish Ministry of Defense in a number of security and defense programs.

Among them you can mention, among others Air Operation Support Center, F-16C / D Block 52+ Jastrząb and F-35 multi-role fighters, C-130 Hercules and M28 Bryza transport aircraft, Black Hawk multi-role helicopters, Aegis Ashore anti-missile shield (built for US Navy units deployed in in Poland) or advanced Sniper targeting systems.
