MOSCOW, (BM) – Two American B-52 bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons flew in close proximity to Crimea. US aircraft have previously appeared over the Black Sea, but for the first time they approached the Crimea from land – from the territory of Ukraine. Experts are confident that the bombers in the Ukrainian sky not only studied the potential theater of military operations, but also practiced the tactics of an air attack.

On Friday, it became known that two American strategic bombers B-52H Stratofortress took off from the English base Fairford, flew over Holland, Germany and Poland, then entered Ukrainian airspace and headed for Crimea. This was reported by RIA Novosti with reference to monitoring resources. The bombers approached the peninsula for 53 km.

According to one of these resources Theaviationist, created by retired Italian Air Force officer David Chenciotti, the bombers flew over Ukraine with transponders turned on. Thanks to this, the observers easily found out their side numbers – 61-0034, 60-0005 and 60-0044, and radio call signs – “Julia 51, 52 and 53”. The board “Julia-53” at the final point of the route described a loop in the square above the highway connecting the Kherson region with Zaporozhye, in the square of Genichesk (Kherson region) – Stepanovka Pervaya (Zaporozhye region), then headed for Kiev. Thus, the board of “Julia-53” was separated from Russian territory by less than 50 km, which was clearly recorded by radars.

“The American Air Force has a habit of not turning on the“ friend or foe ”system in the airspace of European countries that are friendly to the United States,” writes the blogger (translation of the VZGLYAD newspaper). “The fact that they flew near Crimea with the system turned on suggests the following: all three Julia wanted to be seen.”

It is noteworthy that from the Black Sea, three more reconnaissance aircraft flew up to the Russian border at the same time: the American Boeing RC-135 RiverJoint electronic reconnaissance aircraft, the Boeing P-8A Poseidon anti-submarine patrol aircraft, and the Bombardier Global Express Sentinel R.1 British reconnaissance aircraft.

Retired Lieutenant General, former Deputy Commander of the Air Defense Forces of the Ground Forces, Doctor of Technical Sciences Alexander Luzan recalls that the Pentagon, back in Yugoslavia, worked out a new tactic of air attack, which was named “reconnaissance and strike combat groups.” “They just assume paired approaches to the objects of reconnaissance aircraft and bombers. It is their right to work out military plans. The Americans did not violate our airspace. As you understand, it is useless to make claims to Kiev for letting US military aircraft into its airspace,” the general explains to the VZGLYAD newspaper.

“What could we do? An air defense missile system accompanied him, fighter pilots were in readiness. It’s the same here,” says Luzan. “Now it is going to the elections in the United States, so there are many forces there interested in escalating tensions with Russia in order to distract voters from the American troubles,” the general suggested.

As you know, the Boeing B-52H Stratofortress was produced in 1952-1962. as a strategic bomber capable of delivering two high-yield thermonuclear bombs to any point in the USSR. Today, it remains the main long-range combat aircraft of the American Air Force.

“The main purpose of the American B-52H Stratofortress bombers is to deliver nuclear strikes with cruise missiles. We regard the incident as a study by Washington of a potential theater of military operations,” Igor Korotchenko, a member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense, told VZGLYAD newspaper about this. “In addition, we regard this flight as a hostile act by both the United States and Ukraine, which has opened its airspace for American bombers,” he said. – It is worth recalling that Ukraine itself does not have the Air Force as an organized force. Kiev is a vassal of Washington, and the Americans use the Ukrainian airspace to solve their own military tasks.”

Crimea today is covered by S-400 long-range anti-aircraft missile systems, and the most important objects, such as the bridge over the Kerch Strait, the Black Sea Fleet base in Sevastopol, and other important administrative, industrial and defense centers, are covered by the Tor-M2 air defense systems. , which proved to be excellent in Syria in the defense of the Khmeimim airbase, the expert added.

“Tor-M2 100% guarantees the destruction of any attacking targets. Together with the S-400, this complex reliably provides air defense for the southern borders of Russia – and Crimea in particular. Nevertheless, the air defense system in the south needs to be strengthened in order to sleep well,” Korotchenko said. In his opinion, the task of such strengthening has now become sharply urgent.

Luzan, in turn, does not believe that the bombers were specifically practicing a nuclear attack on Crimea. “They walked along the border. And then, in Crimea, there is no target for nuclear strikes at all. Crimean bridge? But it can be hit with conventional precision weapons – there is no need for nuclear warheads. B-52s carry aeroballistic missiles with a range of 300 km. Where can they get them? In the best case, to Voronezh and Kursk,” he admits.

“Of course, they are working out some of their military tasks, but the main thing for them was to show that they have the right to fly now, after 2014, also over Ukraine, their satellite. Therefore, ours raise the Su-27 for each such case in order to show them in response: “We see you and will not let you act as you want.” And how we know how to fight back, we showed well in Syria – with the help of “Calibers”, “Thors” and “Buks”.

Luzan believes that the fear in Crimea is not so much the Americans as the Ukrainian military. “It is necessary to protect the Crimean bridge in non-traditional ways, since it itself is an unconventional structure of high importance. The military expert proposes to equip the bridge with an active protection system: “We put the Drozd system on the tanks, and we leave the Crimean bridge or our nuclear power plants only under the protection of a common air defense system, and this is wrong.”

The incident with the bombers, in his opinion, should become that “call” that will lead to the creation of systems for active protection of Crimean facilities, and first of all – the bridge over the Kerch Strait.
