China is already catching up with US military power, Washington says

PANAGYURISHTE, (BM) – The Pentagon presented its annual report on armaments around the world. According to him, a significant increase in military power is observed in China, and according to the document, the eastern country has achieved significant progress in the field of military shipbuilding, intercontinental ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as in the field of air defense systems.

BulgarianMilitary.com received this information, citing several sources, including US military news agency DefenseNews and Russian news agency TASS.

Particular attention is paid to the part on China’s nuclear potential. According to the Pentagon, the country is aiming and is likely to double its nuclear warheads in the coming years.

The report also gives another clear perspective to China: the transformation of the DPRK into a new “military power, in some cases equal to or superior to the United States.”

According to circulated documents, China has already achieved significant success, being ahead of the United States and partners in certain military areas.

As for China’s nuclear potential, it is no secret that the communist country is creating a real nuclear triad, developing various systems and missiles capable of carrying warheads. We are talking about nuclear weapons in the field of Chinese naval, air and ground forces.

The report also talks about a 2019 analysis that mentions China’s efforts to increase its nuclear readiness in peacetime.

This is perhaps the first American report in many years to say that China is a greater threat to Washington than Russia. A similar statement was made by the director of national intelligence, John Ratcliffe.

We remind you that only about a week ago, Beijing tested by firing two medium-range ballistic missiles into the South China Sea as a kind of “warning” to the United States.

China refuses to sit at the table of trilateral disarmament talks

The US nuclear arsenal exceeds China’s nuclear arsenal by 20 times, and Washington intends to widen this gap, said on June 8 the Chinese officials.

The demand from China to join the trilateral disarmament talks with Russia is nothing more than an attempt on the part of the United States to untie its hands for military dominance, the director of the department for arms control of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Fu Tsong said.

“There is a huge gap between the level of the US nuclear arsenal and the level of China’s nuclear arsenal. I want to give one figure. The US nuclear arsenal is about 5,800-6,000 warheads, which is 20 times the size of China’s nuclear arsenal. This is according to data provided by international well-known analytical institutions” said Fu Tsun at a special briefing.

He stressed that the United States is well aware of this huge gap, both quantitatively and qualitatively, and intends to increase it.

“The United States is going to invest $ 500 billion in the next 10 years and 1.2 trillion in the next 30 years. Asking China to participate in the so-called tripartite talks is nothing more than an excuse to untie its hands to gain military dominance,” said diplomat.

At the same time, he emphasized that China’s refusal not to participate in these negotiations does not mean its withdrawal from the international nuclear disarmament process.

The Strategic Offensive Arms Reduction Treaty (START-3), signed in 2010, remains the only current arms limitation treaty between Russia and the United States. The agreement expires in February 2021 until Washington announced whether it intends to renew it.

The US administration at various levels emphasizes the need to include China in negotiations to develop a new tripartite nuclear agreement between Russia, China and the United States.

In Beijing, this idea is rejected. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that Russia favors the extension of the START-3 treaty without preconditions.

Currently, after the United States and Russia, China is the third most powerful army in the world

In our regular ranking of the top 5 most powerful armies in the world, the DPRK ranks the prestigious third place in the world, after the leader USA and the next participant – Russia.

We can summarize very briefly the power of the Chinese army as follows – as in many other spheres, in a matter of decades, China has transformed from a country of catch-up development into a leading world power. For the most part, the Chinese Air Force is armed with equipment of its own production, but there are also many Russian aircraft.

Basically these are Su-27, Su-30 and Su-35 in various modifications. Air defense / missile defense is also represented mainly by Chinese developments. The creation of unmanned vehicles is also actively underway. Number: 4167 aircraft and 330 thousand personnel.
