Israel might get an access to the secret data of Russian MiG-29 fighters
MOSCOW, (BM) – The Israeli military could able to get access to the MiG-29 fighter secret systems and will allow them to develop the most effective measures in the fight against these combat aircraft, which are in service with Russia, Syria, Egypt and other countries, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.
This poses a very serious danger for Damascus, since in fact, the Israeli military, using electronic suppression systems, was able to easily jam these combat aircraft, which makes their further deployment in service with the Arab Republic ineffective.
As we reported on July 31 the Israeli company Elbit Systems received documents from Jerusalem authorizing the modernization of Ukrainian fourth-generation MiG-29 fighters, citing Defense Express.
The consulting agency reports that the documentation spells out the specifics of interaction between the Ukrainian and Israeli sides in the program, in particular, the issues of compatibility of various fighter systems and those responsible for their integration.
Experts, in turn, very much doubt that this is a real deal with Tel Aviv to modernize these combat aircraft.
“40 million dollars for the modernization of one fighter is just a cosmic sum for the aircraft of the times of the USSR. It is important to understand that Israeli specialists had no real experience of working with these fighters, and all this smacks of a banal desire of Israel to gain access to the MiG-29 systems,” the specialist notes.
Defense Express writes that the improvements “make it possible to make a qualitative leap in increasing the combat capabilities of the MiG-29.” The fighter, among other things, will receive a new on-board radar and weapons control system.
In June, the agency wrote that many owners of MiG-29 fighters, in particular Bulgaria, are trying unsuccessfully to sell them by purchasing new aircraft, but they have not found the right buyers.
In May, the Ukrainian upgraded MiG-29MU2 conducted firing practice with X-29 guided missiles at ground targets at the Povursk training ground in the Volyn region. The corresponding video was posted on Facebook.
In February 2018, the Russian aircraft manufacturing corporation MiG warned Ukrainian colleagues about the negative consequences in the event of an attempt to convert the MiG-29 fighter into an attack aircraft.
It should be clarified that earlier, thanks to the same Ukraine, Israel was able to find a way to combat the Russian “Pantsir-S1” in Syria.
Will this affect the Syrian fighters
Syrian MiG-29s are likely to be more easily intercepted or more easily silenced by Israeli F-16s.
As we reported earlier this year, Syria received two batches of upgraded MiG-29s sent by Russia and for the needs of Basar al-Assad’s army.
Even then, a source from the Syrian Arab Army said that these aircraft were more efficient than their previous generation, and they performed their flights from the Khmeimim base to military airfields throughout the country.
“All countries of the region should increase the level of efficiency, coordination and cooperation strategies in the framework of achieving geopolitical goals in the region and solving problems. This support will not only ensure a balance of deterrence, but also add new value to the ability of the Syrian armed forces to counter terrorism and give superiority in shooting and accuracy” also the source said then.
Now, however, if Israel obtains the data of the Russian machines, this poses a serious threat not only to Syria, but also to all countries that use MiG-29s.
Let’s not forget that the United States would be happy to use such information to improve the technical capabilities of its F-16s in the event of a collision.
This could significantly reverse the course of concrete action, including that of Turkey over the battlefields in Syria, Libya and even Armenia.
