Russia received technology revealing invisible stealth aircraft
MOSCOW, (BM) – The “radio Invisibility”, which at one time was successfully used in the American F-117 Nighthawk fighter-bomber and is being improved to this day, can become absolutely useless thanks to the Russian development, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Reporter magazine.
Specialists from the “Radio Engineering Institute. Academician A. L. Mints ”on the eve presented a technology that can effectively detect any” stealth objects.
Previously it was believed that the invisible plane could be destroyed only in one way – by using the bait in specially selected places for an ambush. That is how in 1999 the Serbs managed to bring down the American “Black Hawk”.
After the Yugoslav “incident”, the Pentagon came to the conclusion that for more efficient use of the “stealth” technology, new materials with improved radar absorbing properties were needed, which were later used in the process of creating the F-22 and F-35 aircraft.
However, the aforementioned Russian development may “nullify” all the efforts of the “Western partner”. The essence of technology is simple and at the same time brilliant. Any material object, to which the plane naturally belongs, is not capable of passing background radiation through itself.
Therefore, if you create a receiver that is sensitive enough to background radiation, then even the most invisible invisible will appear in the form of a spot that shields radio noise, which you can follow and aim anti-aircraft missiles there.
We have no ready-made radars yet. At the moment, it is only a demonstration of the technology itself. But the fact that it works quite successfully in pilot plants leaves no doubt about its imminent practical implementation.
Russia already has a radar capable of spotting stealth aircraft
As we reported last November, the third Rezonans-N radar capable of spotting hypersonic missiles flying at a speed of 20 times the speed of sound and stealth aircraft is ready to assume combat duty on Russia’s Novaya Zemlya Arctic Archipelago.
“The third Rezonans-N radar in the Arctic has been deployed on Novaya Zemlya. It is turned on and tuned in, has undergone all the trials, has been accepted by the military and is ready to go on combat alert within the Northern Fleet,” Rezonans Research Center CEO Ivan Nazarenko said.
The specific date “for the radar to assume combat duty will be defined by the Defense Ministry,” he added.
Previous reports said the new radar would assume combat duty in November.
By now, the Russian military has received four Rezonans-N radar stations while the fifth is at the final stage of its manufacture. Two radars are already on combat alert, the chief executive said.
All the radars are designated to defend the northern direction in the Arctic, he said. The radar’s range makes it possible “to detect aircraft based on stealth technology and hypersonic targets flying at a speed of up to Mach 20,” he added.
According to the data of the Rezonans Research Center, the radar is capable of detecting and providing target acquisition on aerodynamic air targets, including stealth aircraft, at a distance of 600 km and at a range of 1,200 km on ballistic targets, at an altitude of up to 100 km.
On January 4 Chinese air defense systems have detected the stealth F-35s near Iraq.
Media reported in January that Chinese air defense systems were even able to intercept the American F-35s in Iraqi airspace.
“The most outstanding achievement of the JYL1 long-range radar is the blocking of American F-35 fighters. With the growth of US and Israeli operations, F-35 stealth fighters are still appearing in Syria and surrounding areas. The Syrian government army used the JYL-1 system to intercept an F-35 fighter who tried to cross the border,” Sohu said in a statement.
Experts note that the Russian S-300 and S-400 may well detect stealth targets in the eastern and central parts of Syria, however, thanks to integration with Chinese radars, the same F-35 fighters can be detected even on approach, since statements of the Chinese radar developers, they are able to detect stealth targets at distances of about 250-300 kilometers.
Not only Russia and China, a German company also created a radar station, capable to detect F-35 fighter
The German company has created a radar station, whose work has denied the F-35’s heavily promoted “invisibility”, reported BulgarianMilitary.com last October.
Hensoldt manufactured a passive radar TwInvis, which fixes the location of aircraft. Due to the fact that radiation does not come from this equipment, it remains hidden to prying eyes, while highlighting objects of interest.
With the help of the new radar, the manufacturer decided to detect the F-35 flight. Moreover, it was a convenient opportunity – two “invisibles” arrived from Arizona at the Berlin Air Show, held in April 2018 of the year.
For a more accurate fixation, the radar used the power of signals from Polish FM emitters broadcasting inland to Germany. However, the American fighters did not take to the air at the designated exhibition, but the Eurofighters flying were “caught”.
As it turns out, then Hensoldt relocated the radar with a folding antenna (placed in a van or SUV) to a new site located 150 km from Berlin. The equipment was placed among the horses on a pony farm, not far from the airport.
As one eyewitness explained, “someone from the Berlin air show appeared and stayed here for two or three days.” At the same time, every step of the F-35 was recorded by “agents” in anticipation of their flight.
As soon as the planes were in the air, the radar began tracking them. Data collection was based on signals from ADS-B transponders. The so-called Luneberg lenses are equipped with machines so that their movement can be recorded by ground services. The soaring F-35s were just equipped with them.
However, as the manufacturer assures, the radar is capable of detecting targets regardless of whether radar reflectors are installed on them. According to Hensoldt, a passive radar operates in a different spectrum, which makes the presence (or absence) of these lenses unimportant.
The German military has already appreciated the new creation. The Bundeswehr is currently considering a passive radar created by the company as a technology capable of significantly expanding the combat capabilities of troops, in particular, in the matter of air defense. Last fall, in the south of Germany, large-scale testing of a system that recorded the entire flow of aircraft was carried out.
Moreover, significant adjustments were made to the program for creating a new combat aircraft, in which Germany, France and Spain participate.
