BulgarianMilitary.com recalls that on June 18 the Russian Air Force launched several strikes over northwestern Syria, as their warplanes heavily targeted sites belonging to the Turkestan Islamic Party (TIP) and Hurras Al-Deen group.

The source said the Russian Air Force heavily targeted the Jabal Al-Zawiya region, which is located in the southern and central countrysides of the Idlib Governorate.

The strikes on the Jabal Al-Zawiya region struck the jihadist positions near the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) front-lines, resulting in heavy damage to the militant defenses.

Government forces recaptured nearly half of the Idlib de-escalation zone and left behind a number of Turkish observation posts. After that, Ankara sharply increased its military contingent in the region and launched the operation “Spring Shield” to push the Syrian troops. Turkey is also supported by militants loyal to it.
