Turkey has developed a plan for an attack and military invasion of Greece

ATHENS, (BM) – The General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces was developing an invasion plan for Greece and Armenia. The corresponding secret document was found in the materials of the case on the attempt of a military coup in Turkey in 2016, where the investigator mistakenly included him, learned BulgarianMilitary.com citing Lenta.

This was reported by the news site Nordic Monitor, controlled by the non-profit Swedish organization Nordic Research Monitoring Network.

The document is a presentation at Power Point, the first slide of which contains the headline Harekât Planlama Direktifi [“Operational Planning Directive”] and the date June 13, 2014. On this date, the materials were most likely updated, the author suggests.

Another slide shows a list of several action plans, most of which are extinct. Only two remained untouched – plans for an invasion of Armenia [compiled on August 15, 2000] and Greece [June 13, 2014]. Any details of these plans are not available for review, therefore, only their existence is known, Nordic Monitor emphasizes.

The plan of invasion of Greece was codenamed “Chaka Bay” in honor of the Seljuk Emir Chaka Bay, whose fleet in the XI century conquered the islands of Lesbos, Chios, Samos and Rhodes in the Aegean Sea. The plan of the operation in Armenia was called “Altai” by the name of General Fakhrettin Altai, who commanded one of the corps during the Turkish War of Independence.

According to Nordic Monitor, the document was submitted by the investigator to the court in the case of a coup attempt in Turkey and appeared in the case file among many copies of Turkish military emails that transmitted their correspondence, including encrypted ones, at the request of the investigation. Mail was also collected from the computers of the staff of the General Staff, from where the secret document was probably leaked, however, as the author explains, there were no specific details of the plans among them, since this information is marked “top secret” and is not transmitted through the internal email network, but only through special communication systems.

The presentation that got to the journalists was probably prepared for demonstration at the General Staff headquarters as an action plan in connection with the events in Syria, where in 2014 the Islamic State terrorist organization [it was banned in Russia] significantly expanded its influence.

Between Greece and Turkey, the so-called Aegean dispute concerning the issues of sovereignty over some islands in the sea of the same name and the airspace above it has not yet been resolved. Despite the fact that both Greece and Turkey are allies in NATO, Athens regularly complain of the aggressive behavior of Ankara and declare their readiness for a military conflict.
