Russian Tor surface-to-air missile system downed more than 45 drones in Syria

MOSCOW, (BM) – In Syria, the Russia Tor air defense systems downed over 45 drones, said Lieutenant General Alexander Leonov, chief of the military air defense of the Russian Armed Forces, learned BulgarianMilitary.com.

We are talking about artisanal drones that were used by militants that were destroyed “from the beginning of combat duty by military machine crews”.

In the lround forces, Tor air defense system is the main means of combating the striking elements of precision weapons and tactical combat aircraft. Tor in Syria is working in conjunction with the S-400 and “Pantsir-S,” RIA Novosti reports.

Leonov said that “a Tor-M2 modification is being developed on a specialized wheeled chassis,” which will be able to “swim across water obstacles.”

In addition, Tor – M2DT will be sent to the Arctic and the Far North, which is of “great importance”, given the interest in the region of other countries.

“Tor – M2” will enter the Russian troops until 2027. The Ministry of Defense and the Kupol plant signed a contract for 100 billion rubles in 2019.

In December, Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu, at the final board of the military department with the participation of President Vladimir Putin, reported on enemy targets shot down in Syria over the year.
